I’ve tried at least 10 different USB A and B cords. The closest I got was one where my computer kept saying that the device was malfunctioning. But, for the life of me, I can’t get my Tandem X2 to sync up on either my work desktop computer running Windows 11, or my laptop running Windows 10. I’m trying to connect it so I can update and run my G7 Dexcom CGM. My phone doesn’t reconize the Dexcom app (I got it last year) and my pump doesn’t recognize the G7, either. I have the device they mailed me, but, it can’t sync up with my dosage when I’m asleep. Has anyone had any luck with massaging the USB to work? I work at a library and the IT gal gave me multiple different cords to work that SHOULD be capable of transferring data. So, I dunno what else to do! Thank you.
I don’t know what they might have done to muck up USB, but Tandem cautions that pump updates will only run if the Tandem cable that came with the pump (with the “T” logo on the side) is used. They’ll happily sell you another cable if you can’t find it anymore.
I’ve used a ton of different cables with my T2. You might need to clean out the port. Don’t use any metal but you can use a toothpick to clear any lint or debris. I had that happen with my phone not charging.
I just uploaded my T2 with an old cord I had for a camera nd it worked, I then switched to my mobi.
The thing is if you have the ap, the it uploads automatically. Still you should get it fixed in case it stops charging too
Check and see if the USB cable can transmit data with another device, like between your phone and computer. There are data blocking/charge only cables. It is hard to tell the difference. I’ve had that problem downloading data and updating my pump. I’m not sure what the various USB specs require as far a data transfer. As far as I know, all data cables will charge too. Tandem branded cables DO carry data, but using any data cable should work.
I’ve had this issue with other devices as well where they only seem to work with certain USB cables. I’d love to hear an explanation as to why this is- it’s not exclusive to the x2 pump.
@schleima USB has four wires/contacts. Two are for power and two are for data. The charger/power cables lack the data wires or contacts. They tend to be slightly thinner that data cable, but not always.
When Tandem “requires” us to use their cable for data, that’s because it IS a data cable. They don’t ship a power only cable. In fact the Tandem cable is the same as any USB data cable.
Mine only worked with the charging cable that comes with the T-slim.
