I was just put on Victoza the other day and I have been feeling very sick. I have been vomiting, having headaches, diarrhea and pain. I was wondering if anyone else on here is having the same problem or any other issues with the product.
I experienced some headaches after injection initially but those have gone away almost entirely. More of a problem for me was extreme fatigue at the end of the day. This also has diminished over time. Its effects on my blood sugar, which were nothing short of amazing initially have also diminished. I generally exercise after work so the fatigue cut my exercise way back. I am now getting back into an exercise routine but have trouble doing as much as before. Hopefully overtime I can get back to what I was doing before Victoza, and this will have a positive effect on my blood sugars.
The appetite control has kept up, and although I have lost a little weight it's not as much as I had hoped. I know lots of people experience side effects like you have..Some stick it out and they eventually go away. Others find it too much to take and have to quit.
Sounds like you are having a rough time. I hope the side effects go away and the Victoza has a positive effect on your diabetes.
I has been having a positive effect on my sugar levels but I'm not sure if it is worth the pain. The pain I had last-night was worse then any other pain I have felt, even more then when I sprained my back when I was younger.
Hi Corinne,
I started Victoza a couple of weeks ago and the first week on the lower dose, it wasn't too bad for nausea, but when I increased the dose, I had quite bad nausea for hours after injection. I was quite exhausted before starting it, due to stress and work, but was bone achy, hit by a truck fatigued in the evenings.
It's put me off my regular breakfast of yogurt and Kashi and am sometimes eating very little until lunchtime. I find that I feel either chew my leg off hungry or like my stomach is backed up to tonsil level, hours after I eat.
I don't think it's had a major affect on my weight, but my bathroom scale is terrible.
My blood sugar levels have been much more stable, with fewer highs and lows. Still having higher fasting levels, but not as high as before taking it.
The last couple of days, the nausea has not been a problem- I'm hoping it's just a period of adjustment like starting Metformin- which was much much worse.
I hope the side effects are starting to pass...
Hi Corrine
That sounds exactly like what happened to me. I took the stuff for three days and it was three of the sickest days I have spent in my life. When I stopped, I felt fine. It wasn't worth the promised results, that I never really saw.
The reason most people dont know of Victoza is because it's new in the states.
I have changed when I take the Vitoza to right before I fall asleep or a few hours before I go to bed. If I get enough sleep then I don't feel that sick from it, just minor dizziness. I hope this works out.
