Warrenty of animas ping

Looking at Animas’s website they dont cover accidents that may damage your insulin pump. Does anyone know if you can get 3rd party insurance? My home does not cover it.

I added my pump to my homeowner’s policy. It required a rider. The cost is well worth it if there would be a loss.

Thanks for a reply. My insurance company says they cant add a rider. I cant belive there is not a simple way to insure medical equipement considering the cost.

Can you add this to a renter’s insurance policy? I am calling my insurance company now to find out. Don’t want to take any chances!!

I would think so… It should be the same scheduling as a homeowner’s policy. If your current insurer won’t cover it, I am sure there are other insurance companies that would.

I checked into adding a rider on our home insurance and found it cost prohibitive, based on my origonal co-pay for the pump, four years of paying the rider cost equalled by co-pay for the pump. Chose not to. Now almost four years later, I believe the decision was the correct one as I have had no issues with the pump

I ended up going with an insurance company that allow riders for the pump and it cost 27.00 a year.

What kind of accidents were you thinking about? I have pretty much ran over mine, dropped it on the floor breaking it, and know of people that have thrown it into the washer machine and it was all always covered as long as you have a valid warranty. I have had both the Ping and MM Revel and have had them replaced multiple times as a result of my work, and always without question.

posted to wrong reply - sorry

rpwils… you said you got rider coverage for $27, If I may … what company and what accidents/situations does it cover.

Thanks

Sorry just noticed this reply…we now have SafeCo. We put 6000 rider on it so it will cover anything. damage, stolen whatever happens to it. 6K is more than we need but anything less was basically the same price.

interesting…I wonder if people have the same luck with Animas
