You know life with diabetes has gotten blissfully regular, trouble-free and almost invisible when this happens:
The scene - Yesterday in our kitchen. My wife was rooting through a drawer. What are you looking for?'' I asked.
A sewing needle. I have a splinter I need to dig out,’’ my wife said.
So … I pulled out an old, unused syringe (literally covered in dust). Here, use this.'' Response:
I can’t use this; you need it for your diabetes.’‘
Reply: Sweetie, I haven't used a syringe since I went on my pump 12 years ago. It's fine. You can use it.''<br/><br/>
Oh. Thanks.’'
I’d love to hear if others have similar episodes so pass them along.
lots of diabetes stuff makes great warhmmer/warhammer 40K terrain bits…or Orcybits for looted wagons…have used lancets for bulliten board tacs, empyt strip vials make good bead sorters for projects…and the list goes on
there’s also our Diabetes Supplies Art program
I usually use the lancets from my softclix ( before I use them in the softclix ) to take out splinters. I think it is easier than using a syringe. Also, I don’t think a child would like a parent coming at them with a syringe to take out a splinter. Also, easier to hold than a sewing needle.
