In a similar vein as the "no double beep" thread...
There's been a couple of times where the pod was extremely difficult to fill. I just force the insulin in with as much force as needed and have never had a problem with the pod working.
The last time it happend, I honestly felt like I wasn't going to be able to apply enough force with the syringe plunger, but the pod eventually budged, ever so slowly, and worked fine.
same here. The pod before the current one was very hard to fill, and some insulin squirted back out of the fill port. I gave it a chance anyway, and it worked fine for the full 3 days...though I did save the packaging till I replaced it in case I needed the lot #, etc. to report a failure.
This has happened to me. I stop, and try again. I called insulet about this, they said don't force it, call them. I also didn't hear a beap once or twice, but it still worked when I pressed "next".
I don't know where else to put this..but for those of us on Medicare...This Jan We changed our insurance to BC/BS, a Medicare Advantage Plan . I am getting my pods from CARE CENTRIX,through ins...They work through/with Insulet it seems, and CARE CENTRIX, does not follow medicare guidelines. I had to share this..After 2 1/2 years of paying out of pocket, I now have some help!!!!
Hmmm. I remember having that experience a few times, but it was long ago. I haven't had that for a very long time. But I did the same. Just forced it and didn't have a problem.
I was told the same thing - do not force the insulin in.
Before I give up totally, I remove the syringe and reinsert and try to get it in, but if I can't, I won't use the pod. That scares me more than the "no double beep" ones...
I find that this happens occasionally. I just push a little harder and the piston inside the pods reservoir usually breaks free and I can complete the fill. I think it is caused by the rubber gasket on the piston sticking to the sides of the reservoir. As you fill, the piston has to move to make room for the incoming insulin. I've never had a problem with a pod not working properly once I was able to get the insulin in there.
FHS - I just had the same thing happen among two (2) other "bad" pods in my last carton. I couldnt even get the needle to the hole in the pod....of course I called and they said I would get a replacement in my next shipment, I just told them there wouldnt be a "next shipment as I am discontinuing use of the pod. There are just too many things that can sad do go wrong...and this thing is supposed to help me improve my health, not ■■■■ me off. "Well, so be it" was the respnse I got.
First, I should say that I'm not recommending that anybody use a pod in cases that require extreme deviation from Insulet guidelines. I'm mostly curious about what people are doing out there in the big world.
Insulet has always been responsive whenever I've called regarding malfunctioning pods.
Hey Fred - No, actually along with the other issues Insulet has they dont have a good tracking system, and they have shipped me a good years worth of Pods, so I am gonna be a Podster for at least another year!
Today I changed my pod and it was difficult to fill. It beept twice and then I hit a stop. Forcing a bit more the insulin went in. Placed the pod on my arm and after 35 minutes a screamer on my arm "POD ALARM". Stopt the pod and took a new one. Why it happened I do not know. Tomorrow I will call Ypsomed to get a new one.
