What to do?

I'm new to the website... so I dont really know what to do, I know a few people who have diabetes but I dont think any of them use this website, so I'm just gonna put myself out there, a few things about me:

I'm 14

I'm in grade 9

I've had diabetes for 4 years (I think, me and my dad have our disagreements on this)

I use a Animas OneTouch Ping pump

I've only had the pump for about a year and a half

I'm kind of shy at first but once I get to know you, you will probably run into my crazy side ;P

Welcome to the TuD family geckogurl! I'm glad you found the site. I hope you've explored a bit. The Type 1 Teens group might be a good place to start.

I love my pink Ping!

You appear to have the hang of it!

I've had diabetes for 27 years and can count the number of fellow travellers I've met on one hand, maybe 2 if I stretch it I like hanging around on message boards to try to learn from people and help people and meet people. Some of the more science/ article threads will generally have links to articles, often with information from both sides of "debates". I think that in some ways the back and forth can get you a better answer than "Doctor _____ says ______". I suspect as well that it may in some way be an advantage to be in school, studying science, math, etc.? It has been about as long as I've had diabetes since I did any sort of science, which makes running my pump perhaps a bit less than "scientific" and more like "art"?

Isn't that strange as many of us that have D...I think I too can count on one hand the number of people I have known personally that have D. One was a type 1 like myself, and we were diagnosed almost at the same age, I think she's maybe one year behind me...28 years for me now. The other two are type 2's.

Im relatively new here myself, but it is a great place and full of lots of good advice, and everyone has been super friendly as well. I think you will like it here. I know I do. ; - )

Hi Sarah ~

You have the correct idea, Sarah, just jump in and say something. no doubt it will pertain to the topic at hand, or you will have the privilege of starting a new one, as you did here.

About me:

I'm old.

I have had diabetes for a long time.

I, too, have an Animas Ping pump that I got late this past summer. I don't know how I got along without it. I hope your pump is as important to you as my pump is important to me.

Be well.
