Would You Choose the Pod again?

I am satisfied with using the Omnipod. I love it…despite a few flaws. I know a lot of us in the group have been podding for over a month or so. I wanted to know if you would choose the Omnipod system, knowing what you know now–if you had to make a decision all over again.

Absolutely. I had plenty of opportunity to start a traditional pump for years but it was never appealing to me (the notion of being “attached” all the time); on the other hand, I am thrilled with the improved control the 'Pod has given me over the past 9 months. Can’t wait to see my endo next week and find out how low my HbA1c has gotten
The occasional frustrations are still much better than sticking needles in myself 3-4 times per day!

Yes, I would choose the Omnipod again. I had MM pump demo for a weekend and hung the tubes up on everything even pulling it out once.

I have never used anything other than shots, so I would not know. I am a curious person, so I would like to have tried a pump, just to get a feel for it. In a perfect world (I wouldn’t have diabetes) I would probably use both. I am pretty active, so in a few situations a pump would probably be better… Don’t pay attention to me if you don’t wakeboard or dogeball. I really like the omnipod a LOT! though, and would probably not switch.

I used various MM products for ten years or so. I wouldn’t go back for anything!!! I work in health care (actually in my endo’s building) and I get a few calls a month to run down and show someone my pod. I joke omnipod should pay me a stipend or something lol. Seriously though I know a lot of people who have had good experiences on other pumps but I had such a bad experience with MM I considered going off of the pump and back on shots for permanently (actually did for 3 months but my a1c was so bad I went back) When it came time to get a new pump I tested them, grilled reps on minor issues and finally went with the pod based on the recommendation of my DE (who I think thought I may just make a run for it go back to shots lol) and I cant imagine life without it! No looking back for me!

The Omnipod is my first pump…and I am so glad I waited =) I absolutely love everything about the pod and would never go to a pump with a leash…oh yeah, and I love my omnipod =D

I have been using the omnipod for over 2 months. I have had moments where I hated it because of frequent occlussions. I experiement with site placement and found that my thigh works best for me. Would I chose Omnipod again - Yes. I feel certain that since I have appeared to work out the issue of placement ( away from my fat ) it is working out fine. I would recommend it.

No doubt in my mind. I love my POD. I could never see using a pump with tubes. I went with the POD due to the lack of tubing…Never considered anything else.

Yes… I would choose the POD again. The freedom from connection is a huge plus and the future expansion possibilities makes this a great tool. I am looking forward to the day when the POD will automatically preform the testing function and calculate corrections with no input from me.

The POD is the only pump I’ve ever worn…but yes, I would still choose it over any other pump. I’ve wondered what having a tubed pump would be like and recently I got a taste of it. My endo had me wear a CGMS to help with adjusting the pump. This was an old MM tethered CGMS. I absolutely hated it and by the end of the 3rd day wearing the CGMS was ready to yank it out. Now I know I’d never wear a tubed pump. Some people may be fine with it but it’s definately not for me. I would go back to MDI before I would use a tubed pump.

Definitely! I wish I would have known about this 2 years ago when I had to upgrade my old pump. But thank God the insurance company let me get the OmniPod when my old pump had a lot of problems!! It’s been a complete change for the better!!

For sure! I love my Pod ! I would of never tryed any of the other pumps so when this one came along I was all in! I think they still have some kinks to work out but I would never wanna go back to the shots 5-6 times a day. I’m always nervous that they will quit making them and i’ll have to go back to the way it was. Hope that never happens!

I used the Minimed pump for almost a year. I loved how controlled I was, but found the tubing to be a problem at times. IF you had to change while out in public, it was hard. You had to have the inserter, tubing, prime it, all that. Too many steps for me! The Omnipod is so less stressful if you have to change while not at home. My only thing would be if it was smaller…but then since that is the only thing I can even think of I would change, I think it would be hard to go back to using tubing! Long Live OMNIPOD.
