12-24 Hour Flatline

Hi Megan,
great job !
Those are some of the same things that helped me, especially the pre-bolus, especially when a bit high to start with. Another thing I changed was to eat more proteins/fats/low-carb salads first, then the ‘moderate’ carbs when I’m already almost full, and the bolus has had time to kick in.
However, I’m still ‘low-tech’, and estimate carbs/bolus in my head, and refuse to use the ‘bolus wizard’ !

Nice job! I see a lot of “uphills” after flat days like that too, I dunno if it’s something I do or some wierd metabolic reaction…I should take more notes maybe?

Well, it runs up to like 120 or so but most of the time what I do is eat lowish carb during the day, like a piece of toast, if that, for breakfast, and 1/2 sandwich for lunch but then I eat and drink a ton @ night and just bolus for like 60-75G @ night and eat about 50 for dinner and eat and drink the rest, test a couple of hours later and keep rolling…

Lately it’s sucked as I can’t seem to get a sensor to work for more than about 1/6 days. My BG meter #s are ok but the lines are totally bonkers. I finally called MiniMed today and got some tips and they said they’d send a couple sensors out but it is sort of odd not to have any data? If I see a 200 on my meter, I’ll do something about it, even a 150 in the middle of a long run, I’ll think about it and do a partial correction, rather than let it sit there as 150 can be a stable 150 or can be going up or down but if it’s going up, I want to fire away.

Great job Megan! That’s a pretty nice line. I’m about to post my horror in What in the World LOL.

Keep playing. You may notice some foods that spike you more, etc, etc. Look at a week’s worth of data and see if there are any patterns where you can tweak. What Pat said about eating the carbs last works great too.

Dang it! I posted the wrong pic! I had a nice 24hr curve, accidentally took the picture of the 3hr. Stupid dexcom. Here’s one from earlier in the day and is what I really meant to post! Lol (it’s easy enough to get a flat 3hr. My challenge was the 24hr.

Coloring between the lines is so satisfying

Good job, Megan!!! Yes, it CAN be done, even by a young, active T1!

That’s flat in my world! Well done, Megan!!

Hi Megan

You’re right, much more challenging, but also much more rewarding !! Great job !

Achieving your goals leads you to more goals and more successes. But more importantly you learn more and more about what works FOR YOU ! and what doesn’t…

AMAZING!!! I want to be like you when I grow up

Your too kind Karlye! Although, I totally think you can pull trends off like this too, before you’re a grown up! =^)

So its my first week with a Dexcom and just getting used to what my real patterns are. Mostly I’ve been trying to figure out if–in a perfect world–flat lines really could happen while still eating and bolusing. The last 24 hours has shown me that pretty much yes it can, although I have a long way to go to determine all the why’s involved.

So here is my first 24 hour flatline.

Generally speaking I try to have no carbs or almost no carbs with breakfast and no bolus for it, and then stay fairly controlled carb counts for lunch and dinner. This dinner was taco meat, some steamed broccoli and one slice of rye toast. Followed it up with a 12oz bottle of Guinness which I was sure would throw things out of whack, but… /shrug

Every day has certainly not been like that, but I figure the next few months will be dedicated to learning what affects me in what ways.

Nice job! The pint “draft cans” of Guinnes list 9G/ 12 oz on the side of the box. I’m not sure why they don’t list the rest of the pint but at least it’s easy math? cheers!!

Spectacular!! I’m not sure how you did it, either, but take your victories where you find them!

Beautiful! Looks like a pretty perfect world  Better line than a non PWD! Keep exploring

Thanks for lighting a fire under my butt Chris! The club has been in the summer doldrums recently, after a flurry of activity. This is a moderate weekend, 12 mile run, 22 mile bike ride but it worked out ok. If anyone says it’s impossible, they are wrong

Awesome line AR! What’s the range?

Mine still look like sea gulls with very bent wings LOL. Still at +20% basal, still no explanation. Ah well, D-gremlins.

70-130 still. I have a lot of wierd lines lately but like 50% of the numbers are off by > 50 points so I don’t think there’s a huge amount of value in posting them? I think I had a bad batch of sensors as I called MiniMed to kvetch about them and they sent me two and, lo and behold, the numbers fell into place again?

Well done, Chris! Thanks for sharing

woot! woot! well done, AR!
