4 Years Later

Well, I was prompted to come back up here by an email I received today from tudiabetes.org... it was a newsletter... i bet i have been receiving them this whole time, but i didn't notice it until TODAY!

Well, it's been 4 years... what's going on in my life?!?! I graduated with my MPH degree in April 2010! My concentration was: health promotion and disease prevention. I always wanted that job working in the field of diabetes prevention and control... but with the job market back then, i took a job with a Head Start program in NC. But i'm jumping ahead... back up slightly... Spring Semester 2010, I completed my MPH internship in NC working at the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (how fitting to my degree, right?) and i worked... volunteered... as a research assistant with a great woman named Carmen and her research on the effects of diabetes on the FAMILY MEMBERS/CAREGIVERS of people with diabetes. Very interesting project and I got a publication out of the experience... woop woop!

Skip forward... i think about May 2011 I discovered a great volunteer community group of lay health leaders with a focus on diabetes. It's been awesome volunteering with that group. We've reached so many people in the community!

Now drum roll..... TOMORROW I START MY NEW JOB AS DIABETES HEALTH EDUCATION SPECIALIST WITH A LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT!!!! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

I'm also engaged now!! :) So, time to get back into shape, not just for the wedding... but for my own personal health.

Good day to all!!!
