A Glass Of Wine

Does a glass of wine lower or higher your glucose readings 8 to 10 hours later? I was told by my
Dr. That a glass of wine is great for the HDL and he is an endocronologist.

I tested this out and here’s my experience. For the first couple days wine before bed did lower my fbg the next day. Then it stopped working.

No idea why.

It can lower your glucose readings. Alcohol gives a signal to your liver to stop dumping glucose into your system. This is why insulin-dependent diabetes and those taking sulphonylureas (drugs that stimulate insulin secretion) need to take care when using alcohol - it can bring on a hypoglycemic reaction.

I often have a glass of red wine with my meal (it does do great things for my HDL!). I limit my intake to one or one and a half glasses, always with food.
