This thing is build like a tank... A very sturdy tank. The old pod could be pried open with a knife, but this one really does require a hammer to put a crack in the shell, and then you have to pry the shell off with pliars or Vice grips... it's tough :)
We apparently went from 4 to 3 batteries, and the reservoir got much wider, and flatter, and shorter. It looks like the entire pumping mechanism actually got BIGGER, vs. smaller, as well.
Didn't record a video this time... I'll do that for the next dis-assembly :)
It's an old Pod for the OmniPod system. They get replaced every three days, so i wanted to see what this one looked like on the inside, since it's the new generation of pods.
It is the pump. The OmniPod has the insulin reservoir, infusion set, battery, and pumping mechanism built into one unit. The OmniPod isn't reusable and you change the entire pod when the reservoir runs out.
