Yesterday I became President of The Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild in Warwick, NY. It’s going to be an exciting experience for me, and we are going to have a busy year.
The festivities continued with our holiday luncheon and boutique, where members were allowed to sell their handmade items. Lately I have been in a bit of a quilting slump, but I’ve gotten a bit hooked on making fabric luggage tags. Here’s one with my husband’s business card in it (he works for a food company).
I also made some that have a long strap that you can hang around your neck, and put your Guild ID card in the vinyl pocket. I made a bunch up, and sold them for $5 each, and I'm donating all the money to The Diabetes Hands Foundation. I handed out our TuDiabetes 4x6 cards, and had the opportunity to talk about TuDiabetes, and diabetes in general to many of our Guild members. It was just an awesome intersection of my two most beloved communities!
Congratulations Marie! We’re doing good things for the diabetic community (I am now VP of the West Island Diabetes Association and handing out the Tudiabetes.org cards like they are going out of style and educating people into the 21st century of diabetic care).
BTW, I love the luggage tags you are making! Hmmm, dare I try to copy what you make? I say this because my luggage tag got ripped off my bag coming back from Miami on Monday. It was one I’d gotten from Disneyworld. Either someone liked it (like one time I had a luggage tag that looked like a fried egg - it disappeared somewhere between Ottawa - Cuba). Anyway, I bow to you Madam President (doesn’t that sound good???).
