A1C self test kit

Sounds like you might need to consider changing your doctor ... any doctor making it difficult for a patient with diabetes to get an A1C test sounds like they've got their priorities wrong!

Btw, your endo office probably used an in-office machine rather than sending away to a lab. That's how they are able to give you the results before you left the office.

Good luck!

I finally handed one of the receptionist's a stamped, self-addressed envelope with a sticky note requesting lab test results with the date the blood-work was done and got the results!!! You shouldn't have to ask that an A1c test to be done. Your doctor should be doing this every four months if you are not under control. I think that is the rule. I think I've always had A1c's done in my endo's office, though.

Now I'm seeing a gerintologist and I don't think he's used to taking care of diabetics. When I made the decision to drop my endo, he had a Physician's Assistant who was very familiar with diabetes because his father had it. He left!!!! and I was unaware of this.

I ahve found for ME - that the Bayer home kit has been withing +/- .2 for me.

PS: relion would not give me results because the kit I used was expired. I suppose that’s just following good protocol, but it irritates me none the less. I ordered some Bayer kits which I will try next
