Achhing

I was just wondering, the doctor says I have the flu. The common symptons - sore throat, headache. But I’ve got incredible achy legs. Has anyone else had this? If so would appreciate any suggestions…

Thanks

Achiness is a very common symptom of the flu. In fact, I’ve never had flu and NOT had achiness with it; it’s usually my worst symptom.

Anti-inflammatory pain relievers like ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) or naproxen (Aleve) seem to help more with this pain than pain-relievers like acetominophen (Tylenol), although acetominophen may be better for breaking a fever. Also, lukewarm baths can sometimes help (and will also reduce a fever), but make sure they’re not so cool they set you to shivering.

I have never had the flu but, no I’ve never had achy legs either, well apart from when exercising, sorry Becca, is it really pouring over there ? It’s awful here.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but I thought Becca you were saying maybe you have something other than the flu (diabetes related). I’m interested because I too have similar symptoms, a bit of a sore throat, sporadic headache, achy legs and tightness in my chest. I don’t have any fever and it just doesn’t feel like the flu to me. I’m going to my first time endo appointment today and I have lots of other things to talk about but will mention the symptoms as well.

On its own incredible achy legs can be a symptom of diabetic neuropathy. Have you been evaluated for this?

ohh i had the achiness maybe two times in my life with the flu and its annoying. one time i had the flu and i couldn’t stand for longer than two minutes, i got so winded. in that same time i could eat and i felt fine i just was achy and really weak so i stayed on the couch in our tv room and could not get comfortable because i was so sore.

Hope you’re feeling better soon! Do you have fever?

Soaking in a tub with Epsom Salts added helps the achy feeling. Espon Salts are high in magnesium & magnesium relaxes muscles. You can get it at any drugstore. Just don’t get a chill.

Totally normal symptom of the flu. Nasty illness, isn’t it?

Noo I haven’t been evaluated. What did your endo say about you symptons?

Yea incredibly.

totally sounds like the flu… Fighting it here as well… Anti-inflammatory pain killer is the way to go.

when all else fails, Chicken Soup!

Ivan!

Yes, I get that too when I’m sick. Ibuprofen helps, as does putting a pillow under my legs to prop them up.

Drink lots of fluids, and don’t forget to check for ketones
