I didn't deactivate my pod before removing it and putting on a new one. after i put the new one on, the old one began a continuous alarm that won't go off. how do i get it to stop?
How did you prime the new pod & insert the catheter without deactivating the old one?
this happened to me too, when I first started, I just took it off an put it in the freezer for a day. I didn`t have time to break it a part it apart.
supposedly you can put a paper clip or something in the back, we usually let jacob take some diabetes agression out on the pod and smash it! or we put it out on the back deck! funny story one time we went for a hike and had two pods for back up in our backpack, later i was putting things away and heard this ticking sound apparently the unused pod was jostled too much and started "dispensing" insulin, if wouldnt stop until we let jacob dissect it. hope this is the least of your problems, jacob has only had two screamers happen while the pod was on, once at night, once during school but luckily for him it happened at lunch and noone really noticed it took him a while too when he walked into the nurses office everyone gave him a dirty look and the nurse was like ooohhh whats wrong honey, and called me not to dicuss how much insulin went in before it occluded or if he needed more insulin but to ask how to shut it up! cant remember how that all turned out but jacob got through his worst fear of alarming at school with pretty good form! best wishes, amy
They are not too hard to take apart. Just pry the top off around the edge where there is a separation with a screwdriver. Then remove the batteries.
Put it in the freezer!
Easiestthing to do is just stick it in the freezer, it will die there. I am also curious, as Belinda asked....how did you get the pod you have on now primed without going through the full process? (disableing the old one, priming the new one)?
I put them in a vice and squish them to death til they stop crying!
I have had a few barnacles that wouldn’t “connect” with my PDM to deactivate them upon death. The PDM alarmed and let me retry but only once, as I recall. I was still able to prime a new one. Even freezing the last one didn’t stop the squeal … once it thawed, it started up again. I wonder what I did with it. Maybe it’s still in my freezer.
I left mine for a few days, it never came back on lol
