any help please!
First, is it the POD or the PDM? It could happen either way, and it is usually something very different causing it in either case!
I would check my PDM and look at the alerts. It sounds like the POD is bad. Call customer support.
No it’s just the pod beeping. I disconnected it and everything but it won’t stop beeping. I changed it two days ago. Does this just mean the pod malfunctioned?
If you mean the pod is emitting a steady tone/beep or maybe it’s beeping non-stop and you’ve already disconnected it, just crack open the top and take out the batteries. I had this happen on a pod that I hadn’t even taken out of the packaging and called customer support and they will just add a new pod at no charge to my next shipment.
Thanks you guys. I’ll call customer service now.
Yes, it is a bad pod. There is only one way to stop the beeping, (per Insulet, you have to stick a paperclip into the tiny hole at the end of the pod.) I tried their way several times and it didnt work, so I just threw mine into the freezer, and after an hour or so, the pod dies. After that, I wrap it in foil (several times til I cant hear it) then throw it in an outside bin. It is way too annoying to ignore, and Insulet isnt really all that helpful in this situatin, unfortunaltely…I have also just mailed my beeping pod back to Insulet figuring it wasnt my problem anymore!
I’ve never gotten the paperclip thing to work but you can take your keys (or a nail file, knife, etc.) to the pod. On the end opposite the cannula there’s a small semi-circle of non-hard plastic. Insert your object there and pry the pod apart. Depending on how it comes apart this may be enough to stop the beeping, it not then just pry the batteries out and the beeping will stop. The whole process usually takes me about 45 seconds.
Of course, these methods work (for most) but for me the quickest and easiest is to throw it into the freezer (also makes for a slow, deliberate death)(seves it right, beeping so irritatingly!)
ha ha!! such a good, funny attitude about this sort of thing. Thanks, Steve. Thanks everyone!!!
If you changed it 2 days ago, you probably forgot to deactivate it. Only the paperclip will sove this noise problem now (or a hammer ).
I had a pod that wouldn’t stop beeping even after I had deactivated it. I had been told that if this happens you can just smash it and it will stop. So I took a hammer to it…took a little while though, the little guys are tough!
There’s no need to open it. Just use a paperclip and puncture the piezo (speaker) through the tiny hole.
Has anyone had a problem with the PDM randomly beeping and turning on, with no indication of why? This has happened to me with several pods recently. Everything seems fine with the pod, but every now and then I hear a beep form the PDM and when I check it, it is on, but no indication of why.
CJ - Check prior discussins, this one is a common one! Good luck, PEACE
