Alpha Lipoic Acid

Can I source a supply of MaxGXL in West Australia or Australia, or is it online shipping orders only? I’d like to try it 'cause it soundz great but extra costs look prohibitive 'cause of extra costs

I am a diavetic educator with Type 2. I had severe pain, burning and tingling from neuopathy, even though I have never had a A1c over 6.9…I was diagnosed with a 119 fasting as a ā€œpre diabeticā€ā€“which is diabetes!!!.My A1c is now 5.6…I started taking Alpha Lipoic Acid with Biotin, 300mg three times daily. I have reduced my symptoms from a +9 to a +2 and am very happy with the results. No depression, no side effects. It took about a month to reduce the symptoms to this level. I did research and found that ALA is routinely given to patients in Europe, used alot in Germany. A neuologist I met at a meeting is now recommending it to his patients.
I do not think anyone should reduce their diabetic med dose until they carefully monitor their numbers!!!

Kristin, I have been taking R-ALA. I read that R-ALA is the real stuff. It is expensive. I suggest you read about ALA in Dr. Berstein’s Diabetis Solution. I’m taking 400 mg. at bedtime. As far as I am concerned, it’s like Metformin-- you wonder if the stuff actually does any good at all. I’m doing every thing I can to lower my BS readings. Let me know if you have any success. Mel

I just started taking my ALA with biotin and Evening Primrose Oil this week. I take 300mg of ALA after dinner. It’s too early to tell if this will enable me to reduce my insulin intake, but no negative side effects at all.

I only found out about the time release supplements after I ordered. So I am not taking those.

I noticed that my urine has a funny smell, which is strongest 2-4 hours after taking the ALA. I searched the internet to actually find that this is completely normal. But I was thinking that this might mean that dose was too high (and I am just peeing out a large portion of the ALA that I take). This could be a good reason to take the time release type.

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed a smell to their urine after taking ALA and do you think it is anything to worry about? I just don’t want to add stress to my kidneys…

I haven’t noticed anything, but I’m on the time-released formula… Perhaps give that a try and see if it helps?

My husband takes them, although he has no idea why. I just put them in his pillbox and he takes it.
I could poisen him and he would never know??LOL
My metabolic nutritionist recommended to me that he take them.
I do get a great supply of supplements from http://www.swansonvitamins.com/
