Any One Taking Tramadol For Pain Relief and How Have You Found It

Some months ago i started on pain relief, Something that i had put off for nearly a year and i just tolerated the pain,How ever i had no option but to start taking relief some months ago,I was taking a gel form of morphine and this worked wonderfully,A few weeks ago i had suffered another hart attack,As the main line treatment pain relief i have when i do have a hart attack is morphine there was no problems but i had to go on to injecting my self,This week i had my monthly meeting with my endo,The worry is in the simplest terms is becoming addicted,So they have wanted me to take a break,

Yesterday i visited the hospital pharmacist and we went through my list of medications i have to take and this adds up to about 20 in all plus my insulins,Another reason i was on morphine very little counter reaction to my medications,How ever with tramadol there will be some.

What i would like to no from others in TU who take tramadol is there views and experiences with it and how good or bad it is for pain relief and side effects,I will be starting on a dosage of 100MG twice a day.

Hi I take tramadol for chronic back pain. It works ok, better than tylenol or Aleve that is for sure. My internal medicine doctor put me on that and flexuril. I need something to keep the pain manageable and not make me a total zombie as well. The biggest thing I noticed is it seems to make me a little more insulin sensitive. Not sure if its a side effect or just because I'm not in quite so much pain. Good luck, give it a try. Im thinking about doing RFA treatment for my back pain eventually.

I've only taken Tramadol a couple of times. It helped me & hope it helps you.

When I take meds like this, I also take milk thistle capsules because some meds are hard on the liver.

So sorry that you have experienced heart attacks Gareth. Glad that you are still with us though.

As usual, medications do not affect everyone the same. I found Tramadol to take the edge off the pain. Steroids work best for me but I'd rather not be on them because it damages Patient's bodies, plain and simple. I was on Morphine before, during and for a while after one of our summer trips. It was low dose and it only worked for 2 hours tops, if I was lucky. I ended up in the hospital during one trip because of the severe pain even while on those drugs and others. Lucky I tolerate pain pretty good. j/k :D

tried it for a week. it did nothing. better luck with it

If you decide to use milk thistle (it really protects the liver), look for a brand that states "standardized" on the label.

Ya like, no one wants to be in pain while on a trip. So you do what you can. When I was younger, I also tried to put up with the pain like a warrior but a few years later, I hit rock bottom and did go on pain-killers. I realized some things that I missed out on because of it which I still regret. So later, probably like you, I realized, that being brave isn't always the best way to go. I can achieve more if I can manage to feel better with less pain. Best to you!

Yes I have tried Tramadol, found it ok but didn't take the pain away, just sorta took the edge off. Only thing that work for me are anti-inflammatories. I too try to do without painkillers but sometimes, like at night I have to give in.

I like Voltaren a lot. It's an anti-inflammatory that didn't appear to have any whacky effects that would limit it's use. The doc said "it's expensive" but fixed *everything* on my plate, the ankle I rolled, along with carpal/ wrist pain, LBP (field-goal kicking contest 2006...) and "phone neck" that's been creaking along all the time. It all went away. Great stuff!

Great advice you two, I will get some Milk Thistle in chemist today. I wonder is that voltarol you are on AR, it may be under a different name here. Judith I think acupuncture would be great, sure aren't we used to the needles anyway. The one thing that killed the pain for me was Difine, but its severe on kidneys so it was for a short while. Best way to get rid of phone neck is to throw the damn thing out the window.

Gareth, I asked my older brother(who is a PA, RN, CNE) about it and he doesn't know anything about it. I was a little surprised, as all my life he has always had all the answers, lol. sorry!
