Thanks for the link, Nancy. At this point, I remain skeptical the Apple Watch could use non-invasive tech to display blood glucose numbers reliably accurate enough to feed a system that delivers insulin.
I do think, however, that they could produce a system good enough for the non-diabetic population, especially the health and fitness crowd that are beginning to appreciate the importance of a healthy metabolism. One recent study found that only 12% of the US population are metabolically healthy. If any company could make this breakthrough, it would be Apple.
I figure technology changes at the blink of an eye,so to speak. Information may be done this way in the future. I agree about not using it for insulin. Nancy50
At most I suspect it might be vaguely useful to prompt folks to get screened bc they seem to have issues. It’s like their EKG function now, which I can only ever get to read “inconclusive” no matter how well I follow their instructions despite having had recent, perfectly fine EKGs in doctors offices. It will be interesting for those of us who use Apple watches and run a Dexcom on it to see how the numbers track… (though I likely won’t be upgrading mine that soon).
Not sure you guys remember the “Dream Beam” IPO and resulting fraud charges for the claims back in the 1990’s: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/business/1996/09/24/sec-accuses-gaithersburg-firm-of-fraud/f2e273da-d303-4be2-9746-f3ff2fe35075/
Do not remember this,sorry. Nancy50
This would be incredible for me. I don’t take insulin and have good BS control, but to know exactly what food is affecting me would be game changing. Big fan!
I hope this is more accurate than their heart rate monitor function!
My Apple Watch heart rate monitor reads the same as the heart rate monitor on my Arc Trainer, so I can’t complain.
My apple watch heart monitor seems correct, I’ve tested it by actually counting for a min.
However the glucose monitor thsts due to come out is not meant for medical use. I really doubt it will be accurate, if it is then apple did the impossible, a non invasive glucose meter.
I’ll gladly buy it.
I recently got my dexcom data to show on my Apple Watch, I had to use sugarmate then set up a Callendar to get the results to show in real time.
Otherwise the dexcom doesn’t push the results to my watch correctly. There is a huge delay, makes the dexcom watch ap useless.
I’m happy with the dexcom to sugarmate to apple watch though. But was a bit of a pain to,set up.
