Great news! I just go the OK from Insurance today. Still going to cost me alot because of the 2K deductible I have and they cover at 70/30 after that. But I'm so happy. My big question is that this is my first pump. I'm not sure what length the tubing should be. Anyone have a good idea of what an adult male that runs about 25-30 miles a week and also travels 90% of the time via flights mainly should have? Please let me know your thoughts.
JiMMy, it depends on your preferences. I like the 43" tubing, because I can take down my jeans in the bathroom and leave the pump in my pocket. Or get dressed while leaving the pump on my bed. I tried 18" tubing just once, and hated it, because I really felt like I was on a leash. There is also 23" tubing, and the best thing to do would be to request samples, so that you could try out the various lengths. Good luck!
Hi all!!
I currently don't have insurance so I can't get a new pump yet. But when I do get insurance again, I'll be switching pumps because the warranty on my Animas Ping ran out a couple months ago. I was looking at the T Slim and had a couple questions, like how prone is the screen to scratches? I noticed the battery typically lasts a week (or so the website says) and was wondering if anyone has a hard time keeping it charged?
The t:slim come with a screen protector. The actual screen is highly scratch resistant. You can charge pump while you bathe or in the car (come ith car charger). I often top off the pump just before I fall asleep. With a full 100% charge, I’m usually down 5% in day…
Ok, cool! Thank you!! I'll let you know if I come up with any more questions :)
Just got news that my insurance approved the t:slim for me, but they have to get a script from the doc for supplies. So I don't know exactly when it's coming, but I'm looking forward to it! And now I hope it works as well as I want it to! :-)
Tandem just posted that the t:connect management software has received its clearance and will be available for download later in March..... Here is a link to the post:
I'm so excited. The pump is on the UPS truck in town. It gets delivered today. I keep checking UPS... Hope they don't think I'm stalking them. HAH. And it's driving me crazy to think I have to wait on training. I really want to start tomorrow. I've been waiting a few years for this.
IT'S BEEN DELIVERED - I'm rushing home soon. Can't wait to see it.
Training in the morning at 8am... finally. I've been waiting for so long. Thanks all for your advice and help. One of you now....
I so love the pump. It's easy to use. And very nice features. I've been hooked up for 2 hours now. Had my first mean as well. And leaving for a 6 hour drive. Gonna really break this puppy in...
I am considering this pump, but I can't seem to find if it uses the standard luer lock infusion sets. I have a bunch of sets from my last pump, and I'd like to be able to use them if I switch.
Marie B, yes it does.
Mary - Yes, It does use the Luer Lock connection. You should be good to go. Hope you come on board with us. I'm a newbie to pumping. But I've had the best BG values ever for the last 5 days. It's so easy to use yet very nice features.
Just an update - I've been using the tSlim for one week now. I've had much better control. No more bad lows after running. And I love not having to take 4 to 5 shots a day. I almost forget I even have it on. The Comfort inset is great.
Hope everyone is doing well.
After 5 months on the tslim, I've shelved it. I've had some good days, but all in all, mostly tons of trouble.
Sorry to hear this Melissa. I've been on my tslim for 4 months and so much happier with it compared to the Animas Ping.
Still no luck with finding insurance :( My mom wanted me to ask if anyone knew what the out of pocket cost of a T:Slim would be?
brandi - It's about $5600 I think from when I asked earlier in the year. That's the pump and supplies for the first 90 days.
Ok, thanks :)
