New insulin pump from Tandem, the T:Slim touch screen insulin pump.

Please note: the exchange, sale or giveaway of items between members that require a prescription from a licensed practitioner, including insulin pumps and pump supplies, is not allowed on TuDiabetes.

We encourage you to donate supplies to non-profits such as the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association and Insulin for Life, which accept insulin pumps and pump supplies (as well as other diabetes-related prescription items).

You can also approach your physician's office or local medical groups to discuss donating them to those in need of assistance in your area.

By the ladies, girls, Vera Bradley has a couple of items that work quite well for carrying the t:slim. Zip ID Case and Clip Zip ID. The both have windows where you can store the pump since it is the size of a driver’s license! I ordered 4. I definitely cannot take credit…got the idea from another t:slim user.

Has anyone gotten the t:slim through Medicare? I spoke with Ryan, insurance specialist at Tandem, and he didn't know. He said Medicare patients must go through a 3rd party like Edgepark or Liberty.

2TonTommy, do you currently use a pump? Medicare requires C peptide test plus BG logs. Other insurance info. Tandem will help put it together.

Janice, Yes, I currently use a pump and have used one for the last 15 years. I just had a C peptide test in November and my logs are up to date. Did Medicare pay for your t:slim?

2TonTommy…No…creeping up rapidly on that status. Since I had met my out of pocket…FREE along with all of my first three month’s supplies–actually sent four month’s worth. Sounds as if your good to go!

all is going great with my t:slim, how is everyone else doing? Edgepark for my supplies is another story, anyone know of another distributor that keeps the pump supplies ready to ship? I have been told by edgepark since November 2012 that the cartridges are on backorder, is this a supply problem or do they just want people to not have access to the no copay at the end of the year? I have filed a complaint with my insurance for now and see what they advise me to do next. Thanks.

I have had mine for a couple of months now and doing very well. I do have a couple of issues with it but after researching I found it is actually the FDA putting limits on min. bolus issues (I'm a type 2 with a 1:1.5 insulin to carb ratio). I am using "Diabetes Specialty Center" for supplies and placed a 90 day order on Dec. 18th, I received it a week later. My copays were all met and needed it taken care of before Jan. 1. I guess I should be happy I used Diabetes Specialty Center. Good luck.

Gbbassethound, do you mean maximum bolus issue?

Kat, where is your Edgepark supplier located? I also have Edgepark; but, they are in Illinois.

Thanks Janice, yes I did mean max bolus issues. It/me are causing high BG levels but I guess the FDA is more worried about insulin overdosing than under-dosing. :-)

gbbassethound…there is a 500-U insulin. Wonder if that would work better for you; and whether or not it will work in the t:slim?

Janice, my Edgepark supplier is in Ohio according to the paperwork in the box. Maybe I should have it transferred to the one in Illinois.

Kat, you would think that they could transfer supplies, if one of their distribution centers inventory is depleted. Drug stores do that. Makes too much sense, huh?

I just got my T:slim pump; They really made the setup easy to follow. Overall very nice features. I will surely miss my Cozmo though. It has been my reliable pump for the last nine years or so.

So how is everyones T:Slim treating them? I had a week where I went back to my Ping. I was getting a crazy amount of Occlusion alarms and it was happening when I used Apidra or Novalog. Turns out it was the crappy Cleo's Edgepark sends. It's been three weeks since I've been back on the T:Slim using the Inset and all is well. How bout for you?

Jesse tried the cleo's many years ago when he used his Cozmo....had many occlusions, and they didnt stick on his skin... so he changed to animas insets....and has been fine since...

Loving my t:slim. Tried Orbits; but like the Animus Insets best. Decided to name my pump Watson! It’s so cutting edge that I thought the homage to the IBM computer was appropriate. I’ve also purchased several accessories to “clothe” my pump.

Kat1997, I just received my first replacement supplies, cartridges and Animas insets. The Edgepark in Twinsburg, OH shipped out the replacements. The order arrived in one day. I live right on the Illinois/Iowa border.

Hi folks! I've been MDI for about two years and yesterday my t:slim shipped. It will be my first pump. There are no reps for Tandem in my area and I was worried about not having any others with t:slim experience to interface with. I'm happy to have found you folks!
