Are you an Animas Insulin Pump user? Introduce yourself here

I'm on my second ping having switched from medtronics. Recently submitted a request to T-Slim. I heard from them initially, but now nothing. Will probably stick with ping - it's good for water-sports. My only complaint is that silly belt clip they make - they simply don't last, and a few customer service issues, but other than that, it's been a great pump.

Hi Kelsey, I'm curious to know if you had features or ways of doing things on the Medtronic and Cozmo pumps that you don't have and miss on the Animas Ping?

Also are their features and ways of doing things on the Animas Ping that you didn't have on the previous pumps and like much better now that you have them?

I just received a 3 mo supply of INSETS and Cartridges for my PING from Animas. I called and placed the order and 4 days later UPS delivered my package of supplies. Thank you Animas, Medicare HMO Blue, and UPS.

O ring. Where do i get to buy one?

You buy a new battery cap & the O-Ring is part of the cap

As of yesterday morning I am now officially an Animas Vibe Pumper. The transition went as smoothly as you could ask for and my Medtronic 722 has been stowed in the cupboard.

Hi all, I am totally new here! I am wondering if there are any former OmniPod users here who have now switched to Animas. I am considering the Animas for my 11 year old son. Is it true that the dosing precision of the Animas is better than OmniPod? I love the tubeless idea of the OmniPod and I hear the PDM is easier to use than the Ping. We have met all the sales reps (Medtronic as well) and seen all the device up close, but it is hard to really know what it will be like in reality. Any feedback about Animas vs. OmniPod is appreciated!

Infusion set; Animas_ping: i recently changed from the 90 degrees one to the 30 degree one and find that I loved the 90 a lot better. Is that everyone's experience or am i doing something wrong

I tried the 30s a couple times and they would not consistently work good for me. At times they would be good and others not. I now stay on the 90s and love them! I think my trouble with the 30s was that I didn't always get the angle correct before inserting.

I like the angled ones for by midsection. I'm slim and hit muscle if I use the 90 degrees. Butt (and that is not a misspelling) I use the comfort-detach, taht are 90 degree, when I use my bottom. I don't have to be a contortionist to insert them.

whao! I use left and right of my navel area. How does it work using ones bottom, never tried that.

Basically, you just pop it in. The comfort detach has a business end - the infusion portion and then about 3 - 4" up the tubing is the detach part. That way you don't have to reach all the way around (like the girl in the "Exorcist") to detach. So as an example, if you were to pop it into the center of your left bun, the detach area is by your side.
As to the angled ones, I use them from what would be considred my "side seam" if I were a ragdoll all the way across to the other side.

Another reply, it sure would be nice if there was a way to draw a picture in the comment box...

Is anyone willing to help me out?
In my comp 2 class I am doing an I-search paper, and I need a few more people to interview. If anyone who has had depression would be willing to answer some questions over Skype that would be great!I have struggled with depression myself and I am interested in how others deal with it and what they have gone through. If you are interested you can e-mail me at janz0400@go.clcmn.edu or reply here. Thanks so much!

Would anyone have an extra IR uploader, utsed to upload yoru pump that they are willing to sell or give away that I can utilize? Mine unfortunately does not work and Animas wants me to pay out the butt for a new one????

I get a warning that I need to prime my pump every time I wear it running outside in the cold. I wear it clipped to my running tights. This happens even when I cover it with my windbreaker. Anyone else have this issue and a good solution? This is my second animas pump and this winter is the first I have ever experienced this problem. It is almost warm enough to not worry about it for a while, but still curious.

VBM,

I never had a problem running with with the Animas Pump in the Winter. I had problems skiing with it two years ago. I never got a warning that the pump needed to be primed, but I found that the cartridge was full of air bubbles, which could have been caused by altitude. A suggestion on Tu Diabetes that I turn the pump over, so that the air bubbles wouldn't enter the tubing, seemed to have solved the problem. No bubbles got into the tubing this year.

Might be the cartridge cap coming loose-that is why I got the warning,if I hadn't screwed it tight enough. I never got the warning running, or skating.
