Are you an Animas Insulin Pump user? Introduce yourself here

I was having intermittent pump not primed alarms. Recurring, no pattern, would have a bunch then none for a month. It can be a number of things, the cartridge, the cartridge cap, or the sensor in the pump itself. My pump was just replaced under warranty because of recurring no prime alarms.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never thought of the cap being loose. I will check that but still not sure if that is the problem. I don't see any air bubbles either. Still cold out here, so I will check it on my run today for those problems.

We've had some loss of prime alarms after our daughter has been playing rough and likely knocked the pump into something or dropped it on the ground. Animas tech support said that impacts like that will cause the pump to give that alarm. Do you think you might be knocking it into something without realizing?

I'm a crafter as well as a recycler. Has any one utilized the plastic inset case for a crafting project? Each time I open one up, I think there has to be something useful I can do with this cute little round plastic box. I have been saving them hoping to put them to use.

Anyone know how to get the EZmanager and/or the diasend programs to work?
I can't get either of them to find my pump or my meter so I can download information to take to a doctor's appt.

I have made the mistake before of not suspending the pump before uploading to Diasend online. After I suspend it, I place it right next to the wireless sensor until I see it connect on the screen.

It’s also possible that your operating system is not compatible, especially for EZ Manager. Diasend is compatible with some of the newer systems but not all.

Jan, thanks for leading the charge on this cause. Make sure that the petition gets to our government leaders. I hope it will help to get the CGM covered by Medicare or at least by the private insurance companies that manage and provide
Medicare supplemental and advantage plans.

Hey, all!

What do you guys do with your pumps after the four years are up?

my warranty just ran out. I'm waiting for a new animas model but if that doesn't happen by the end of the year I will likely switch to another brand.

The warranty on my Animas PING is up and I am researching the new insulin delivery devices (pumps) that are available or waiting for FDA approval. I wish Animas would hurry up with the VIBE. I do like the tslim with its smart phone look. If you are also exploring and researching new pumps post what you find here so we all can see it. Thanks

I still have a year left on my warranty. I will be looking at both the Vibe and the Tslim. A lot will depend on what the integration with Dexcom looks like at the time I need to upgrade. If Animas can’t figure out a way to integrate the remote and cgms then I’ll most likely go with the Tslim. If Tandem is still a long ways out with integration I’ll probably go with the Vibe. I would be perfectly happy with either pump.

Right now Tandem does not have a trade in program for old pumps and they haven’t established what their upgrade prices/policy will be either. I personally would want to know that before committing to a new company.

If my pump was out of warranty today and still working I’d probably just wait for now and investigate my options, make a preliminary decision but not actually upgrade unless the pump malfunctioned. That way if it works long enough for the next generation pumps to come out you can change your mind if some new feature you really want has been added.

To Andrew I have always traded in my old pumps for a discount on my copay for the new one. Given that I’ve always had to have my pumps replaced under warranty at least twice during the warranty period with both Medtronic and Animas I personally wouldn’t chose to use an older out of warranty pump as a backup.

@DianaS
Thanks! Yeah, I might try to return my pump. Also, I was talking with an Animas rep. while shopping around to see if I should switch to a different pump system, and he was optimistic about the Vibe coming soon. He was saying about six or so months, with a $99 cost to upgrade from the Ping.

Hi Everyone,
My insurance just approved me for the Ping, I am a first time Pumper and wonder how hard the pump is to use and get used to.
I should get my pump next week and I am really excited, but also kinda scared at the same time.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Congrats on your Ping, momof3. It is definitely a learning curve, so be prepared for a few weeks of working on getting things ironed out. I recommend you read the workbook online and then when you get your pump you will have the manual which you should go through in detail. I don't know if you are starting on saline or insulin. I was on saline for a week and I found that a good time to get used to all the buttons and settings. Do you have an appointment set up with a pump trainer?

My 11 year old got his first pump, the Ping, about 3 weeks ago. He's loving it. I love it. The Ping is super easy to use and the manual is thick. I especially like the remote which comes in very handy at night. Don't be nervous. It's a great tool. It forces you to really pay attention to Type 1 Diabetes which in my opinion is a must. Congratulations and enjoy your freedom that will come with pumping.

Yes Zoe, I have a pump start meeting next Tuesday June 11th. I just had another meeting with my endo and she is so happy that I got my numbers in control. On april 6th my A1C was 11.4 and today it is 6.2 :). when I first saw her my 30 day average was 330 now it is 134. So this time next week I will have my Pump

Hi All,
Excited to join this group. Still on MDI but switching to Animas Vibe soon :
I’m from New Zealand and have just received approval for pump funding for 9 months. It’s still another 6 weeks till I start but I’m getting excited.

Just a quick tip to save you some button-pressing.
Wherever you are in the menu you can press the button on the right hand side and then press the OK-button to get back to the home screen.
