@siri : I never thought I’d say this to anyone other than my iPhone, but I love you, Siri!!! Thank you for the button tip! It saves a lot of unnecessary button-pressing…
I don't understand, Siri. I'm assuming you mean on the pump itself; I hardly use the pump at all, I do everything from the meter-remote. But I tried pressing that button on the right on the pump (which I have never used) and when I did no matter where I was it would go to normal bolus and I'd have to press ok and then click down to "Main menu" to get out of there. I don't get it.
@zoe: I do not have a remote so I didn´t even think about it. Yes, I mean on the pump itself. The button on the right should activate the "sound bolus"-screen, if you then press OK you will get back to the home screen without delivering any nsulin. Maybe you must have "sound bolus" activated?
No "@" in front of my name, Siri; it's just "Zoe". You must have a model other than the Ping since you don't have a remote, and it must work differently. When I click the button on the right it brings me to "normal bolus" - I've never seen a screen called "sound bolus" what is it for? and from normal bolus I would have to say "ok" then scroll down to main menu. Sounds like a helpful button - what model do you have?
Ah, I just scrolled down and figured out you have the Vibe - whole different thing! I'm in the U.S. and it's not available here yet though I may be the only person in this country that isn't interested in getting one! (No interest in a CGM and I'd miss the remote!). Not sure what I'll do for my next pump, but I have time to decide. Glad to hear you're so happy with it though!
Right now I have no interest in the Vibe either. I wouldn't mind a CGM, but not enough to incur the additional cost of those supplies and even more I don't want to give up the remote.
Nice to know I'm not the only one!
There is no remote with the Vibe? That's all I ever use with my Ping. I would miss it terribly! Don't take it away!
Zoe, the @ symbol is commonly used to address someone on an internet message board. for example:
@Siri- thank you so much for this shorcut! I'm surprised I never thought of it before. It sure does limit the amount of button pressing on my Ping.
@Zoe- Siri is referring to the Audio Bolus, the button that is on the right side of the Ping when looking at it its upright horizontal position.
I think the remote feature will still be around in the Ping, but for those who want the CGM included, the Vibe will not offer the remote functionality.
gw, I've been around message boards for 17 years and the @ symbol just started being used recently with, I believe twitter? We all get to choose how we are addressed here and I choose to use my own name, Zoe which has no @ sign attached.
I just looked up Audio Bolus and see that you can program the Ping for that option, which I had no interest in doing as I rarely use the pump for bolusing. If you don't program it than that button just takes you to "normal Bolus" (and takes two more steps to return to main menu). I was assuming it was a Vibe thing as that was what Siri uses. I stand corrected.
Thank you gw for clearing this up.
Yes, it´s the audio bolus I refer to as "sound bolus", din´t know what it was called in english.
I find the Audio Bolus to be convenient as it can be programmed to deliver in .5 units, although I make an effort to only use it if I have just tested my BG within the last 15 minutes. I never thought of using it as an escape from the menu maze, as I never pressed it from the menu, only the main screen.
I should mention that I have had button failure on a couple of Pings, even though I use the remote more often than the pump. The Audio Bolus button never failed, it was the up, down and ok buttons that stopped working.
So taken the stress of these buttons in any way possible has to be a good idea, and this is another reason why I like this shortcut.
I think I agree with you Zoe about the @ sign. To me, @ suggests speaking "at" someone, although convenient (?) I think it can sound rude although that is presumably not the intention. Then again I don't use twitter!
I do prefer speaking/writing communicating "with" or "to" someone however. :)
Thanks for understanding, gw. I do get a bit strident at times in my attempts to stand against the forces of social media that seem to be invading other areas of our lives. People in my life are often surprised at how much I utilize my computer as they think of me as a Luddite. Then again, perhaps computers are "old school" now in this age of "devices".
And yes, a lot of social media seems like people talking "at" each other, not with each other!
Sorry I´m late with this reply, but I would really like to apologize to you Zoe. I didn´t mean to be rude or offensive in any way, I just saw that the @-sign was used when other people commented here and thought that was the way the communication went.
Oh no problem, Siri, I didn't take it personally. It's just something I react strongly to!
Does anyone know if the Ping continues with the Basal delivery while it is administering a combo bolus?
yes you still get a basal
you always get a basal unless you suspend it
Thank you Sindilicious..I thought so...Today I had a huge emergency...BG 400+...and needed fast calcs...Diane
We just chose the Animas Ping and my 11yr old son will start to pump class on the 22nd of this month. We are really looking forward to the freedom of not having to constantly inject him at every meal. He chose the green pump!
