Art made with diabetes supplies. Share it here!

yes, great video, and WOW on the studio. I’d like to see a still photo of the pen holder.

Currently I’m designing a much more flashy version and I’ll give it a much better paint job. The specs of this thing are:
Holds 2x Pens, 3x needles, 1x spare cartridge (they all sit in the top, pic doesn’t really show it in use, but you just about see the holes for where they all go in) and there’s space for stuff below.
I also got a skip that could be used for needles maybe.

Thank you D! I am so very sorry I’m just now responding. The note got pushed down in my in-box! : )

ll three pieces ar 20x20". All three represent how the daily grind of being a diabetic can obscure the bright beauty in life.

The first is acrylic with pen over it. I started by writing all the messages that go on in my head all the time.

  • Don’t forget to bring an extra bottle of insulin.
  • Don’t leave your purse in the sun or the insulin will spoil.
  • Don’t go outside without shoes.
  • Always have sugar with you.

Then it just started pouring out…
Messages from other people, "My grandmother had diabetes and lost her foot"
Messages from me, "You know you can’t go hiking, you’ll have a low blood sugar"
The ongoing list of to-do’s, "Change your pump every 2 days, move your CGM every 7, use antibacterial soap so you don’t get infections again, eat 30 grams of carbs a meal, write down your meals/insulin/exercise/bolus to tell your doctor, get an A1C every three months, see your endocrinologies every three weeks, your Ophthalmologist every year, your podiatrist yearly, it goes on and on.

Before I knew it my canvass was totally filled up!

The second is obviously all the trash / supplies created every day by being a diabetic.

And the last is black tangled yarn over a bright canvas.

Thank you for the nice complement!! : )

I made this fish

a couple years ago from my used syringes, acrylic paint, on a discarded refrigerator box:

wow sam, beautiful

Thanks, Marie.

Marie B told me about this group - awesome. Just having difficulties finding the one she had mentioned about Adriena (msp?) - Manny's better half I believe - making a curtain out of insulin bottles. If anyone can post the link in this discussion board - that'll be great - 'cause I'm getting frustrated and not knowing where to find this here on Tudiabetes (it just keeps on growing & growing everytime I come back to this website). Cheerio for now - my time on the Internet is over for the day!

Love the fish Sam !

Here it is!

What to do with my used syringes?
I haven't thrown one away for 15 years.
Until Dec 2012... then I threw them all away.
In a sharps container (18 gallon) full.![|192x256](upload://88asHoKUu5eivQMvIzS763jPVqd.jpeg)

I am an artist... so I made art with my used supplies.
hanging in my studio now...gets mixed reviews.
some love it, some hate it.
most people think heroin.. I have to tell them diabetes.![|360x239](upload://s2dLKVYROmFE69imm8T7ag84vg3.gif)
