Saw my Obe yesterday and am 29 weeks. She said baby is measuring 10%ile. She also said baby was very active so it was hard to get a good measurement. Have gained about 5 kg this pregnancy so far, so not too much, but am eating healthy and well, and being very careful with blood sugars & latest A1C is 4.9 (but up from 4.6 2 months ago)....
I am hoping that it's the measurement that was out as I am a bit concerned that baby seems to be small. A different Obe a month ago said baby was 50%ile.....
I haven't done an anatomy scan yet, and wasn't planning to, but now I am feeling really conflicted about whether baby is ok or not...
I guess the fact that she is so active is a good sign.
She wants to see me in 1 more month, which will be at 33 weeks. She seems totally unfazed by the diabetes that I am managing without input from her at all. Pretty much without input from my endo either who just lets me do what I want (though to be fair, what I want does seem to be working pretty well) and I seem him every month or so .....
This is way different from the intensive monitoring from high risk drs that most of you ladies seem to get.... maybe they consider that the good control = low risk!
On the positive side have decided which hospital I will deliver in. They have really nice delivery suites and is the an option for water birth. Will do some more research on that. But I would love to have an unmedicated delivery if it is possible. My obe won't require me to be hooked up to continual monitoring during labor - they will just check on the baby every 30 minutes, and she won't require an IV line (though she will require IV access to be in place). I will be able and encouraged to move around as much as I want. I will be able to have a support person there as well. Considering my previous very medicalized birth experience, I am really quite excited at the propect that this one can be different. Of course, things could change last minute, but at least I'm going to be given a fair chance and the necessary support, to do things differently this time.
