Baby Measuring Small

Saw my Obe yesterday and am 29 weeks. She said baby is measuring 10%ile. She also said baby was very active so it was hard to get a good measurement. Have gained about 5 kg this pregnancy so far, so not too much, but am eating healthy and well, and being very careful with blood sugars & latest A1C is 4.9 (but up from 4.6 2 months ago)....

I am hoping that it's the measurement that was out as I am a bit concerned that baby seems to be small. A different Obe a month ago said baby was 50%ile.....

I haven't done an anatomy scan yet, and wasn't planning to, but now I am feeling really conflicted about whether baby is ok or not...

I guess the fact that she is so active is a good sign.

She wants to see me in 1 more month, which will be at 33 weeks. She seems totally unfazed by the diabetes that I am managing without input from her at all. Pretty much without input from my endo either who just lets me do what I want (though to be fair, what I want does seem to be working pretty well) and I seem him every month or so .....

This is way different from the intensive monitoring from high risk drs that most of you ladies seem to get.... maybe they consider that the good control = low risk!

On the positive side have decided which hospital I will deliver in. They have really nice delivery suites and is the an option for water birth. Will do some more research on that. But I would love to have an unmedicated delivery if it is possible. My obe won't require me to be hooked up to continual monitoring during labor - they will just check on the baby every 30 minutes, and she won't require an IV line (though she will require IV access to be in place). I will be able and encouraged to move around as much as I want. I will be able to have a support person there as well. Considering my previous very medicalized birth experience, I am really quite excited at the propect that this one can be different. Of course, things could change last minute, but at least I'm going to be given a fair chance and the necessary support, to do things differently this time.

My baby (he's six months now) was measuring pretty small too, and from 36 w to 37 he didn't gain any weight at all, my placenta was very old and that is when the doctor decided we should have a c-section.
He was born at 37w3d with 2,7 kg.
My doctor told me that i kept my sugars too low and that might be a cause. I don't know what to say about that....
You should keep checking up on him at least weekly, to see if he is growing properly. Maybe he is just a small baby, and that's no issue at all.:)

Thanks! Here's a recent picture with him.

The result of the u/s depends on the machine but on the doctor’s skills also. Indeed, there is a huge difference. Maybe the second doctor knew you were a diabetic and expected the baby to be large and didn’t bother to measure right? I’m just saying… I never had a problem with such differences, although i had ultrasounds at with 5 different doctors.

Why worry so much on the weight??? My priority was having great numbers, i couldn’t care less about my weight. Please don’t worry about it. You should focus on your bs and eat whatever makes them good!
I gained about 41 lbs and nobody slapped my wrist! When i got home from the hospital, half of them were gone.

Well....u/s are important, but you should also find a good doctor, that knows how to use the machine properly.
And to everything else....YES, I AGREE!:)
