I am looking into what foods are best at controlling blood sugar in type 2 diabetics. List your food type, quantity, how prepared and BG result before and after!

Here's what works for me . . .
Low carb, hi protein. I don't pay much attention to fat -- my lipids are excellent so I don't worry much about the source of the protein. Fish, chicken, red meat . . . there's enough fat in there that it just takes care of itself without my having to focus on it.
Regarding the question of which foods, I don't really have a list. I eat pretty much anything.* But: I practice very tight portion control. At home, I weigh nearly everything I eat on a "smart" scale, so I know exactly what I'm getting.
.
.
*Well, not quite anything -- no desserts or candy or things that would blow the "low carb" rule. But you know what I mean.
Test , test a lot. I try and eat mostly fruit 1x a day ,lots of lower carb vegetables with protein. I front load my day with healthy carbs, mostly oatmeal, nuts ,blueberries, some milk. I am very aware of fat content due to metformin. I seldom eat potato, pizza ,breads ,chips etc., just don’t see the need unless I am really cornered and have no control like a conference or meeting. Love salads and nuts. Testing is such an ndividual thing on how each of us reacts. Nancy
I agree about testing. Rather than listing individual eating habits which differ so greatly, the best advice anyone can give is: Eat to your meter. Try a favorite food in a typical serving and then test two hours later. If your blood sugar is too high, try it again, perhaps in a smaller serving, perhaps supplementing it with another better food. If every time you eat that food in any kind of reasonable serving you go too high that is telling you something.
Some people use exercise to compensate for food and keep their blood sugar in range. Those of us on insulin have that as a tool to "cover" the carbs (though doing that too liberally has its own downsides). But bottom line, your meter will tell you what you can and can't eat.
I like the part about the heavy cream, almond flour and the Lindt Chocolate!
And absolutely eat to your meter as that will provide the best feedback and confirm your choices and portion size.
My Sugar dropped 100 points from portion control .. I don't weigh anything Just make sure I use whole wheat breads and only one Hamburger not 2.. and 2 Hot dogs not 4... I have lost 13lb. without trying.. My doctor told me to always move back from the Table.. He was Right !
Oatmeal and legumes are my favourite foods to smarten up my sugars, and I love them!
