Bolus delivery

HI all, I finally started my pod today and all is great. I do have a question however. when you confirm a bolus and it starts delivery do you have to keep it closer once it starts or do I have to keep it close to the pod until it delivers the insulin?

Thanks in advance

Sarah

No need to keep it close once it says delivering.

No: switch the PDM Off by holding the 'home' key down once the delivery starts (the rotating bolus screen). This saves batteries, and the PDM won't tell you anything until the pod has finished delivery so it is pointless keeping it on.

Thanks Helmut, good to know.

Yeah I noticed that my battery has depleted more than I thought it should. this is great news, so I only keep it close when changing the pod? as for giving myself insulin once I see the delivery is working I can put it away?

Love these forums.

You will get communication errors if the PDM is too far away - they are harmless, just move it closer. The new pods apparently have a greater range after priming but I haven't swapped over yet (that happens tomorrow.)

With the old ones I always touched the PDM to the pod after initiating a bolus, it just became a habit.

Yes; you can put the pod away after the change (bolus, suspend, whatever) has been acknowledged. There's typically a double beep from the pod.

I use Energizer Lithium batteries. They last about 3 months.
