Byetta and insulin

I went on Byetta when it first came out, I was already on Lantus. Byetta gave me no problems, affected my BG levels only minimally, if at all. The Byetta/Lantus combo was not an issue. The Doc had me on it because of possible appetite control ( also very minimal if at all). The excitement began when a Humalog pen was added to the mix. I could take just the Humalog and not worry very much about when to eat. But when I had Humalog and Byetta, it was 'fun and games with insulin and Byetta'. Now I had to eat fairly soon or I had a low.
Now I wear a pump. I have asked on a couple of forums if anyone else is pumping and also using Byetta. So far I have found no one. It is the same situation as when using insulin pen. Mostly it causes the insulin to go into effect sooner. It does seem to make the insulin more effective in keeping BG low when eating a lot of carbs.
As I took both insulin and Byetta about 25 minutes ago, I am outta here.

Hi Susan, I have done Byetta and insulin, I still use insulin in a pump but never both at the same time. I stopped Byetta because it became ineffective for that reason I started insulin. If the quickness of action is a problem have you considered an insulin with a slower action time.

No, I would not want an insulin that was slower. I use the Byetta to speed up the insulin reaction so that I don't have to wait 30 minutes to eat. I like that it speeds up the reaction time.

I Understand, let the fun and games continue.
