Can Diabetes be cured?

Hello friends,

I have been able to reduce my blood glucose levels from 200 to currently 92 within a span of 2 months, by following a certain routine. I just wanted to put across the same to the community and ask whether diabetes is curable and if yes , then are the effects permanent or just temporary.

I am 41 years, 5 feet 6 inches, average built, male (without the family history of diabetes) who had been initially detected with pre symptoms of diabetes about 2 years back at sugar levels above 120 pre and post. Then about a year back it reached at 190 plus pre and post.

I had been regularly going to the gym and exercising due to which my sugar levels were around 150 to 160 levels. Despite doing rigorous exercises and taking extreme caution in eating, I was not able to reduce the glucose levels below 150 pre and post.

About 2 months back, an old associate suggested that there was any inverse relation of sugar to your body. The more amount of bitter items that you consume are likely to reverse the sugar from my body drastically.

As a result, I commenced on the following simple routine.

1) I started drinking 2 glasses of water every morning and 3 glasses of water (total about 2 liters a day) during the day.

2) I reduced my food intake to a minimal and vegetarian. Basic meals just to survive and eat normal foods while trying to avoid or eat less sweets.

3) I commenced with drinking bitter herbal extract of 2 glasses everyday.

4) I ate half avocado daily along with apple, kiwi, and wheat flakes.

5) and the last thing I did was drank a mixture of 100 grams of wheat, barley, gundara (eating gum) and onion seeds (all equal propositions after boiling them).

Today after about a month, my sugar glucose levels have been gradually reducing and I am completely normal. My current sugar levels are 92.

One thing has however happened, my sleeping time has increased from 6 hours to almost 9 hours daily.

Can such a diet cure anybody of diabetes?
Are these effects permanent or just temporary?
Is it true that ancient medications or natural herbs or Ayurveda has a cure for diabetes?
Or is it that, that the amount of bitter items consumed is inversely proportional to the sugar glucose levels in one's body.

Please let me know your views. If I can be of any help to anybody then please contact me

From your profile i noticed that you are Type 2 Diabetic and i guess you are not insulin dependent. from what i know diabetes can not be cured. however, especially in type 2 diabetes, as well as to a certain extend in type 1 diabetes, you can rise your insulin sensitivity, which means you can lower your insulin needs.
so in my opinion, you have not cured your diabetes, but increased your insulin sensitivity. that means your body is now producing enough insulin to put your carbs into your cells, which obviously wasn't the case a few months ago. in addition to that you seem to have lowered your daily carb intake, which lowered your insulin requirement from your pancreas as well.
I have no idea about all these herbs and other mixtures you took in, in my personal opinion they do not work. i think the things that lowered your glucose levels were the exercise and low carb diet.
so the answer to your question: you probably did not cure your diabetes. you found a regimen that works for your body now, and that might work forever or maybe you need to take further actions in the future if your insulin resistance keeps rising.
hope i could help you

Sigh....here we go again! Raj, my dear man. I bow to your tenacity, but diabetes (of any type) cannot be cured. CANNOT BE CURED. It may be so well controlled as to give you the impression that it is no longer there....but fall off your regime, and your bg will once again rise. It appears, however to be a good regime for you personally, and if it works....bravo. BUT....it is not a cure! Period!
Sincerely....linda

When people first detect abnormal BG they tend to change their activity level and eating habits. Reducing sugar and carbohydrates, lowering insulin needs and for sometime may be able to produce enough insulin to maintain close to normal BG...This is refereed to as the honeymoon period...unfortunately insulin resistance is causing your body to produce high amounts of insulin and over time the pancreas just wears out and can no longer maintain normal BG levels...What ever you are doing It's working...stick with it...just being proactive is a good first step.....JMHO

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I don’t know whether they call it Ayurveda or anything else. But yes, it is believed that our ancestors had a home remedy and lived much longer than those who resided in metro towns. The reason being they lived in the countryside where the air was relatively better, food quality was fresh, waking up was relatively early, and they use to derive or try and find a home remedy for most diseases through farming based methods.

As I am eating most of the herbal extracts which are bitter, I am sure they most be certain roots from trees or bark which have medicinal values. Like cinnamon, cardamom, etc only thing this root is bitter in taste, so maybe it must be cutting the sugar in my body. I don’t know… I am presuming that. I guess you could call it the science of Ayurveda because their stream derives from roots and plants and flowers.
