Canada sells same insulin for 90% off

Thanks for reminding me about this new function. The “Tracking button” you refer to hides behind the Watching button. I haven’t used these functions yet as I think I still want to see the good, bad, and ugly comments and exercise my patience when necessary. Plus I don’t have to pay attention to every comment.

My patience does need to gain some muscle, however. It’s the proverbial 97-pound weakling but I keep trying!

Ah, yes. It looks like the button is labelled by whatever you have the thread currently set to (which changes automatically for some threads based on how you read or participate in them). The options are Watching, Tracking, Normal, and Muted. Thanks for the clarification!

interesting. thanks Jen.

Or maybe it was also a gift to the PBMs?

PBMs negotiate with Pharma, even for Medicare Part D. This is one of the reasons why PBMs are in lockstep with a firm, “NO!” when Congress asks if the US Government should negotiate directly with Pharma for Medicare Part D.

Bottom line w/r/t lower prices in Canada and any other developed nation - no other country has the same convoluted system to deliver life-enabling prescriptions.

The simplest solution for insulin would be to legislate that insulin be paid for with a flat fee and NOT be a part of the deductible. Eliminate rebates, percentages, etc.

Pharma’s biggest fear is the potential to be removed from the formulary lists for employer-sponsored insurance, which makes up the vast bulk of the prescriptions for insulin. Widespread formulary displacement will lead to a very negative loss of market share and revenue.

I agree, the Part D regulation that prohibited negotiating lower prices based on volume purchases not only helped Big Pharma but also the PBMs.

I encourage others to look at the 60 minutes link that @mohe0001 provided. I sure hope that justice will prevail in this case. It appears that greed has overwhelmed whatever morals or ethics may have been in place in the corporate suites.

I really think that in this case corporate officers need to serve time in prison, not just pay fines. Then perhaps we’d see some change in corporate behavior.

Its nice not to be the only people in between a bullet and a target. I like that they have made this a larger effort, involving many members of the chronic illness community. They are pulling the medical machine in front of the target and using them as a meat shield.

This is what the IL Doc from the 60 min episode is doing - adhering to old fashioned medical ethics. Its so refreshing. You dont let anyone interfere with patient care - not even the cops. Certainly not a bunch of suits. There are rules. Salt Lake City Police Video Shows Nurse Arrest - YouTube

Uh, you know this shows the opposite of what you seem to think it does. It shows the votes IN FAVOR of the bill to import drugs from Canada.

I am not playing that divide and conquer blue team red team game. I can see red team had more traitors but there were sellouts on both sides.

Since you have been an active poster, what are you doing to solve this problem other than complaining. ?

Composing a letter does not count.

Composing a letter is perfectly reasonable way to start. Thats how everyone starts. Its a way to clarify your own thoughts. Explaining your thoughts is not easy.

I suggest you spend some time clarifying your own thoughts, less time bullying members of your own team. Its a little naggy, T2Mom. Some people face more obstacles than others. They have to work harder. They tend to bring the fight. They are my favorites.

You can get mail order from Canada as an individual buyer. Import not really necessary, I don’t think, as long as I can buy.

Just for your information, i am only interested in hearing from those who are dealing with diabetes, 1 or 2 or what ever. Successful or not.
Not their, mental condition, nor an eating disorder, or possibly that I am morbidly obese (like my sister who is not a diabetic), or I can’t live life with out my carbs. nor a possibly misguided perceptions about the world as a whole is against them. They are important issue for people to deal with on their own.
I prefer to discus managing diabetes. Which is why I have followed this site.
I am not an enabler or wish to rescue people. I focus of managing my own t2

Good night. You have absolutely no idea who I am, such is online, glad you enjoy itl

Many diabetics have multiple autoimmune disorders. It is very common within our community to have multiple chronic conditions. It can take a lot of effort to unravel the affect of different diagnosis-es from one another. But, its important to understanding diabetes. I find it helpful to understand diabetes through the lens of understanding illness, in general. Diabetics bring particular skill sets. Other illnesses bring other skill sets that can provide valuable perspective.

You might be asking for special accommodation in a round about way. But, as a reminder, you are an adult man and you do have the right to not read things that you dont want to. This is a large website with lots of space to roam freely, according to your own desires. I will check with admin to see if there are additional technical options to accommodate you. You can also ask them, all on your own, too, if you wish.
