Case for Animas Ping Pump when Swimming

Hello- I was wondering if anyone had any advice for swimming with the Animas Ping. I know it claims to be waterproof, but has anyone found a case that they like that maybe gives it some extra degree of protection? I see online they have a “tamper resistant” case, but it looks pretty bulky and probably wont fit well with a bathing suit on either!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks-
Melissa

I’ve been swimming with my Ping many times with no issues. They do recommend that you replace the battery and cartridge caps every three months if swimming a lot. I was never told this, and so after a year did get a replacement when I noticed the cartridge compartment getting wet after swims. If your pump is under warranty then they will replace it at no cost of its damaged from not being fully waterproof.

Where do you usually attach your pump when you swim because I usually attach on my thigh and wear the pump on my lower leg or waist. The tubing would just be hanging while wearing a bathing suit…

You can buy a rubber case/skin directly from Animas that protects the pumps from knocks and bangs. I find it is quite effective in protecting the case.

I have a Y chromosome and swim in swimming shorts. I put my set in my upper thigh or butt and keep the pump in the pocket. As you presumably have two X chromosomes and probably don’t wear shorts for swimming you could still use sites in your rear end or hip. To be honest, I tend to disconnect as I am rarely in the water for longer than 60 mins at a time. If I need to do so, I use the short tubing rather than the long tubing that I normally prefer.
