Change is Afoot on TuDiabetes!

I'm actually looking forward to the changes, especially reverting to most recent posts in all forums being restored and less clutter on the home page. Unfortunately it nudges my brain; I haven't updated my own pages for... well... too long LOL

The main reason I'm not feeling dread is because you all working on the change actually listen to users, so I'm sure our main concerns with a new format will be addressed, though ya can't please alla da people alla da time!

Oh yeah, thanks for the update and warning Emily. Kinda like a pre-bolus huh? LOL

Hey Manny ready for me & Judith on teaching us how to do it?? WE all know that I'm not the most computer savy here. LOL!

Yes, it would just look like another page on TU, but it is pretty simple to customize, I promise, especially if you are willing to try a new look, it is easier to use than the current system, and it has more options.

btw, we just changed the discussion format to the "most recent" view.

*blows kisses*!!!

The forum's main page is back to "most recent"! Cheers! :)

For those of you who feel nervous/unhappy/put-out etc. about having to figure out a new system to re-do your personal page, I ABSOLUTELY understand. Frankly, I never even customized my profile page because I assumed it would be confusing and complicated, and I don't consider myself to be particularly tech-savvy (although I'm certainly getting there!).

So imagine the joy in my heart when I learned that it was my job to create the tutorial on how to customize profiles on the new site! :-/ And now I can tell you... I honestly think the new system is better. I played with the customizations on the site as it exists now, and then on the site as it will be starting the 16th, and I found the second to be both easier and more fun. I was actually fun! This, from someone who previously had no interest in doing it at all. Doris, Judith, and others.... it'll be fine :)

If anyone wants to give me their password, I'll be happy to customize your page for you....

Hallelulah! Thank you, thank you Andreina and all!

LOL is that your new page bg? Brings me right back to the good ol' days, though I'm straight as an arrow ATM :)

That's my new CGM...

OMG I think I would have cried!! I promise u that these computers drive me crazy. My kids (one is 23 and the other will be 22 on the 20th of this month) look at me and say "But mom they had computer's when u were in scholl so why are u having such a hard time with it??" To which I tell thenm "Back in my day a computer took up thewhole basement (60's and 70's here) and now their notepads (I think is what their called) LOL!

Yes! That is the spirit! :)

Personally I don't think the present customizations set up is particularly well laid out, so I'm looking forward to the change.

I work in IT and have noticed almost no one, including me, likes to learn a new way of doing something they already know how to do. I remember the first PC I saw. It was an IBM XT. I asked to see Word Perfect. The person showing me the computer typed in some commands and a screen comes up with a blinking cursor, that was it. I was underwhelmed.

Change is good and inevitable, even if it forces us to learn new ways of doing things, I don't want to go back to the blinking cursor days.

Those were the days :) University computer center open till 1am - nothing remote or self-contained. Cards, tapes, Adventure... LOL Glad these days aren't those days any more!

We have a new provider , called " Shaw Communications is Canada's leading provider telecommunications and entertainment, delivering monthly service in digital and high-definition cable TV, high-speed Internet ..."
and soon we have to change our e-mail address , TV listings etc. . Yesterday a visit to Shaw's office ...all seniors in the line up ...I did share with the clerk : " we ( Hubby included ) hate change " ...everyone there was nodding their head up and down ... TuD : I promise to hang in

My late wife learned computing on an IBM 360 at a University Computing Center. So communicating with a computer with typed commands or punch cards was how she learned. When we got our first computer with a mouse she absolutely hated it. Needless to say within a day or 2 she was completely won over.

My dad worked for IBM and we used to have this cool metal sign/ bar thing, like 3' long aluminum, sort of the size of a sword with "IBM System 360" on it that he'd salvaged as they were shutting them down.

Hey, AR, I'd happily give you my password to customize my page, that is, if I could remember it, LOL!!! :-)

Ok, it's not even the 16th yet. I just logged on and found a "TuDiabetes Chat" toolbar at the bottom. It is emitting beeping noises. WTF?? How do I get rid of it. I am proud to say I am NOT a part of the social media generation and I don't like being forced to be one. How do I get rid of this?

Ok, I found the "go offline" button. I really do NOT like being automatically put into something like this. Please, administrators, if you add a lot of new options such as video chat, make them optional, and do not have them turn on automatically when we sign on!
