Last week I wrote a post about some changes to the staff that run TuDiabetes and EsTuDiabetes. These changes have also made it possible for us to re-strategize our live video interview content and the audio podcast content that we publish each week.
Based on the traffic as well as the search queries that we can see, it appears that the video archive is a well-used resource by our members as well as a hook that brings new members to our community. We have no plans of getting rid of it. We do, however, have a few changes we are going to make to make sure we are using our staff’s time wisely as well as producing content that will have the largest impact on the community we serve.
Here are some of the changes that we will be implementing soon:
- No live interviews - Instead of recording interviews live we will begin interviewing, editing, then publishing video each week to the TuDiabetes video archive. This gives us more flexibility to accommodate the schedules of our guests. We certainly enjoyed having the live interaction during interviews, but the turnout during the live events was never large enough to justify the amount of work involved with producing a live streaming show.
- Mila & Mike - Starting next week, you’ll recognize two new faces hosting the weekly TuDiabetes Talks episodes. @Mila2 and @mrmikelawson will take turns interviewing our guests in the interviews that are conducted in English. All of these interviews will continue to get archived in the TuDiabetes video archive as well as on the TuDiabetes Talks audio podcast.
- Thirty Minute Interviews - on EsTuDiabetes, the interview length has been cut down to 30 minutes per week. We are going to experiment with this shorter length as the default here on TuDiabetes.
- English & Spanish - We have always done interviews in English and in Spanish, but starting next week we will begin an every-other-week schedule that will alternate between the two languages. The video archive will have a category specifically for the content created in Spanish, and the audio podcast feeds will contain only one language (so if you wish to have the Spanish and English podcast, you will need to subscribe to both). This will give our staff the opportunity to focus on planning, executing, publishing, and promoting the video content each week in the given language.
If there are any people in the diabetes world that you would like to see interviewed, please mention them in this thread or send me an email (mike@diabeteshf.org). I’d also be happy to answer any questions you may have that weren’t answered in this original post. We are always on the lookout for new names or new topics. I’m excited to see how our video interview library grows in the next year!
