Chemo Round 2 of 12

I have my second round of chemo tomorrow. I’m not as nervous as I was about the first one but still a little nervous about its cumulative effects. Three of my good friends will be joining me tomorrow which will be really nice. They are bringing lunch and some games to keep us busy. On another note I’ve started running. I thought I would wait until I finished chemo to begin “rebuilding” my body but I can’t wait. I need to be exercising not only for my body but for my state of mind. It felt good to run. I am going to try to keep it up on my off chemo weeks as long as I can.

Hi Brian
I am glad yiou are going to have friends to hang out with you and Karen tomorrow.
I wanted to tell you about my kidney doc. He and I have become good friends and when I go in for my checkup visit with him each month we also talk about his problems at the end of the visit. He has a very bad brain tumor and has had surgery and radiation. Now he does chemo 5 days each month. What I wanted you to know is that he has begun his bicycle riding again and says he feels better doing it. I had noticed all the beautful photos on your page and saw you were so active before. My doc had a problem with some foot dragging after his surgery and couldn’t actually run again but is walking fine and got to riding his bkke again. He says it makes him feel good to be active ( he began hospital rounds and office practice 3 months after surgery) with his body again. He is 35 and in good physical shape now that he is eating again. I just talked to him about an hour ago and he says the key for right now is to take it kind of slow and not try to build too fast He has a fan blowing on him so it feels like he is outside. Since you both are similar age.and circumstance I was hoping that this might be of some help for you. I hope it helps you feel better and wish you all the best for tomorrow. Big hugs for you.

Hi Brian,

Your post sounds very positive and upbeat and that shows me what an amazing person you are no matter what your circumstances. I am not sure I could do the same and you should be very proud of the way you are handling this. I am so glad you have friends that will hang out with you and offer you their support.

Run like the wind.
