Pasta? Got it. Pizza? No problem. Cupcakes? Yum! Coke? 250. Half hour later, 30.

I’m sorry man! I hate to say this but I’ve found there are just a few things I can’t have…I do exactly what you’re doing and my BS get all jacked up. I’m sad to say, have you had coke zero? Lame I know, but I haven’t had any regular sodas in YEARS, it’s really not that big of a deal anymore.

Not to sound too flippant, but good luck with that. I gave up regular soda 25 years ago because of the same problem. It was one of the biggest and most depressing sacrifices I had to make initially. Really really sucked.
I made the switch to diet soda, then eventually cut out 95% of my soda intake. I’ve had maybe 5 regular Cokes in the last 25 years, all for lows when I had nothing else. Don’t miss them a bit and I can’t even stand the taste of regular soda now.
Maybe get a Coke to be social, but not drink the whole thing? I hope you’re not talking about trying to have a soda fountain sized cup.
This happens to me with oatmeal…I just gave up!
Can you spell s-t-u-b-b-o-r-n? Some foods (if you can call Coke “food”) just don’t work for some people. Some types of “food” just don’t work. Really consider drinking something else. Is it such a bad thing to have something that’s NOT a Coke?
Here’s what I think is happening - your insulin can’t keep up with the Coke. The carbs in Coke are pure sugar and they go to work right away. You insulin, on the other hand, takes two hours to peak. It’s a race between the tortoise and the hare.
Sugar goes up, up, up. Insulin is chasing slowly and falling behind. The sugar peaks and starts to come down. The insulin is catching up still. The sugar stops for a nap and the insulin overtakes it. You go low.
Just my theory.
But, seriously. Why fight it? Drink something else and avoid the heartbreak.

What kinda friends do you have? maybe it’s my gender, but when I go out with the gals 90% of us have diet coke - so I fit right in. I haven’t had a regular coke in >25 years. Last time I tried one was when I was having a terrible rxn and the school nurse gave it to me. I threw it up it tasted so incredibly bad to me.
I also have a hard time with juices - liquid sugar is the one thing I just can’t do.

Unfortunatley you may have to just stick with the diet if you don’t want to go 250. Regular coke has SOOOO much sugar in it -it is kinda gross. Scarey if you ask me
But yeah, I don’t think there is going to be anyway to get completely around it. Is diet coke not considered cool to drink anymore? Ok, maybe i am old but there was just as many people drinking diet as regular when I was your age - it was cool to have either one. You get used to it the diet after a while. Although I always preferred the diet pepsi to the coke.
Maybe you should start a new trend - it is cool not to drink all that sugar (which makes you get fat and rots your teeth) -so diet is the new cool thing to drink. And it is always cool to do your own thing (but I grew up in the 80s so everyone was weird back than!)
But you are lucky you can eat the pizza and pasta and cupcakes. I can’t.
Hey, if you get it from a self-service foundation - maybe you can mix the diet and regular but put in more diet. That might cut down on your spike. I did that sometimes and it tasted good.
Either way - good luck with figure it out. But your body is gonna rule on this one unfortunately.
btw, Coke Zero tastes as good as regular Coke.
Try it. You’ll like it.

Afraid there’s no easy, or not easy, formula for that. Not worth it to spike to 300 or be testing every 5 minutes. No enjoyment in that.
I agree with other posters that Coke isn’t exactly healthy, and I only ever drink diet now. However, if it’s something you really want, perhaps try bolusing 30 min or so before you drink the Coke so your insulin and sugar peak at similar times. Good luck!
I don’t really miss the coke to be honest. I just wanted to know if there was ANY way to bolus for them. I honestly like sprite more, but we haven’t bought any real coke in… well… i guess since i was diagnosed (13 years ago).
Oh well. Back to my milk diet. Lol. Was just wondering if anyone had had any success getting a simple coke to work out.
It’s mainly what i drink around the house… right after milk.
Hehe, my bolus log is FILLED with 12g boluses from all the milk i drink.
Ah, it’s fine. I’m not really that hurt over it. I know that some things just don’t work. Had diabetes for as long as i can remember (longer acutally, haha). At least i can still have cupcakes
I just was surprised that something as simple as a coke was one of them… usually i can just kinda sip on it over the course of an hour or so and my BG not go up much, so i’ll probably just do that.
I think if you check coke is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. Because of the way this is manufactured it disables the bodies way of detecting sugar. If you must find a drink that is sweetened with cane sugar. More predictable
stay as far away from soda as you can. 40g of carbs in a liquid form like soda is just about the worst thing you can do to yourself. Start drinking diet.
Charlie Harper:) I’m picturing a can of Coke with an insulin patch, kind of like juice boxes with attached straws.
