I thought I had posted this… but I don’t see it… so I’ll repeat.
I miss my sweets! I used to eat a ice cream 2-3 times a week and all the other goodies my husband would bring me (sweet man)! Anyway I was studying today and my mind goes ICE CREAM… I said NO!! and my mind goes ICE CREAM!! and so it went for a half an hour.
I am a very inventive person. So after battling with myself I put down my books and headed for the kitchen.
You know those Dreamcicles? The ones that are vanilla center with orange ice around them? (heaven) Not my absolute favorite ice cream but I like them all the same. So I set about making my own “taste treat”
Home made Dreamcicle jello.
1 sm pkg Royal sugarfree gelatin Orange flavor
1 C boiling water
1 C cold skim Milk
1/2 tsp vanilla.
prepare as directed but substitute the milk for the cold water and add the vanilla.
When partially set, stir again to prevent settleing of the milk proteins.
OMG it’s tasty! and the only calories and sugar comes from the 1 cup of milk!
I suspect that if it was frozen it would be really good… now where is that ice cream maker?
Also… Cream soda… is basically vanilla, water, and sweetner. I sometimes make it up as an alternative to my tea and sugar free sodas.
Yeah, only problem is with money being tight right now, buying ready made popsicles are cost prohibitive. But I’ll keep them in mind. Frozen Cool Whip? I sent hubby off with a coupon for sugar free coolwhip and sugar free pudding. and of course there is NO sugar free coolwhip to be had in my area. :o(
If you can’t find the sugar free kind, look for the “light” one. It only has a couple (like 2) grams of carbs in a serving. Just stick the whole tub in the freezer, and once it’s all set up it’s kind of like ice cream. It’s not quite as good, but it’s close!
That’s great except I’m not on any meds at all. In fact I’m not under a doctors care either. :o(
The second ingredient in the “light” version is corn syrup and that is followed by sugar so I dare not even try it unless my glucose reading is WELL below 100. I ate a single chocolate cherry recently and my glucose shot up to over 200 and took forever to come back down. (I’ll just bitch at my stores until they carry it… LOL )
