Does anyone know the status of the android app for G5?

The last I heard was Dexcom hoped sometime this year, but it has been months since I’ve heard any update.

I have it already, and the watch and it works great… but with an Android I could use the phone for Freestyle libre + android wear (sony smartwatch 3) for direct scans as well. Now I have two sets of phones and watches which feels a bit overkill.

I’m not sure if I’m understanding what you are saying.

In your original post, you asked about the status of the android app for G5, which leads me to believe that you are either: 1. wanting to begin using the Dexcom G5 and use Android instead of an iPhone and/or Apple Watch or 2. are already using the Dexcom CGM system but can’t utilize Share because you don’t use an iPhone and/or Apple Watch.

But if I understand your more recent post, it looks like you want to use the Dexcom CGM system and the Libre at the same time? At the risk of sounding judgmental, why would anyone in their right mind want to do such a thing?

I understand if it may sound confusing but there is (are) a logical explanation:

  • I am paying for both systems myself. Due to the high price/short life cycle of the G5 i need to combine the two systems, i.e. I cover 6 months with G5 and other 6 by Libre.
  • Second reason is the summer. Dexcom sensors are LARGE and not so discrete if one want’s to be discrete on the beach. Libre is much smaller and barely visible on the skin.
  • To continue with the summer, sweating. Again, Libre adhesive is stronger than the one of Dex, and since the sensor is smaller it is easier to cover with e.g. Tegaderm.
  • It is good to have an alternative or a backup. As much as I like apple, I hate the way they are locking in us users, by, for example, blocking the NFC chip.

Does is make sense?

Ah, I get it now! Very logical and thrifty :money_mouth_face:, not to mention fashion-conscious. You can understand my original confusion, though :thinking:… I was thinking to myself, “Who is this complete D-nerd that is so anal about his BG’s that he wears two different CGMs at the same time???” :yum:
