Dexcom data and Diasend

My endo is not in the Diasend network. I found that Diasend's display of data is far surperior to what I get using the Animas program, so I switched. I would like to put the Dexcom data on Diasend as well (I am trying to get a replacement pump and need all the data I can get. To make a short story a little longer, currentyl I am entering everything into the pump, manually into the Dexcom and a handwritten log as well!) The dexcom shows shose lovely graphs that show the trends much better than pump/meter data. I called Diasend and they said that it wasn't approved by the FDA for inclusion on Diasend? Anyone have that experience?

Thanks

Yep, I got the same story. You can upload the data from your Dexcom G4 into the Diasend system. They just don't allow you to view it until the FDA approves.

I agree the reports with Diasend are much nicer than the old ezManager reports from Animas. The one thing I don't like is they do not allow you to enter your A1c lab results like you can in ezManager. Only a subscribing doctor's office can do that.

I'm like you in that my doctor doesn't subscribe to Diasend so I have no easy way to track A1c labs over time like I did with ezManager.

Wow, that sounds weird! Why does this even have to be approved by the FDA?

For what it's worth, when uploading data from the Animas Vibe to Diasend, you can actually see the CGM data (and everything about the pump as well, of course).

As if it is the FDA's business. It's my blood it's my A1C! To me it's a lot like the ready excuse for medical people to think if somnething's wrong it's the diabetes and that the patient is non-comliant. Anecdotally, a friend who developed type 1 as a police officer was working in street cloths as a detective. While having lunch with his partner, there was an armed robbery nearby and they, orf course responded. My frined got shot. When the parameds came his partner, who knew he had type 1 told the paramedics. As well he should. Once at the ER, the med staf were telling him ohow high his BG was. Well, Duh! He'd just been involved in a chase and a shootout. I believe the detective said something like, "Well Duh. I just got shot. And then snidely said, they're nopt shooting poeple for high BG's now are they?"

I have the Ping, so there isn't any CGM. I wish there were. I am thinking of switching (seriously thinking of switching) to the MM Revel so I can have the CGM and one device on my waistband. I really get a lot of goodf info and help from knowing the trends. My Dexcom is the 7.

Thanks for replying.

Since I was deciding between pumps with integrated CGM as well, I'd recommend considering upgrading to the Animas Vibe. While you'd lose the remote functionality, the G4 accuracy seems to be better for most people compared to the Medtronic CGMS. I guess the Vibe still isn't available in the states, but how much longer will it take?

Yeah, where are you located that you have the Vibe? I don't really use the remote much so I probably wouldn't miss it. I sure wish that Animas would tell us when it's coming. There might be others like me who are considering MM because we want/need the integrated CGM.

Currently I'm in New Zealand / Australia, where the Vibe was launched recently. It's been available in Europe for quite a while though. It's really too bad that the FDA process takes so long. This post mentioned that if things go well, it might be approved soon.

I've posted this in other topics -- it's completely doable, though annoying. To get your Dex data into diasend, and be able to view it:

When you register, you have to register as an international user. I'd suggest selecting Spain as your home country, since most other countries use mmol to measure blood glucose instead of mgdl like we do. This may require navigating a screen or two in spanish, but it's not all that hard to figure out -- worst case, you can use two browsers so you can see the registration form in English while filling in the spanish one.

Once you've registered as a spanish user, go to diasend.com, click "International" to log into your account, and leave the language setting on English. You should be able to upload and view all Dexcom data.

And once again, yes -- this is ridiculous. It's my data -- why on earth does the FDA care?

Muchas gracias, estudio uno poco espanol. I'll do it.

Just remember, the Animas Vibe is approved by the FDA so U.S. diabetics can get it.

Seriously? So why doesn't Animas show the Vibe on the US homepage?

Is it really finally approved by the FDA? I know the Dex4 is. How can we get the Vibe? I need to get a new pump fairly soon. My Animas Ping is over 7 yearas old, and out of warranty for almost 4. I get so much value form my Dexcom 7 - which I guess is going to disappear soon. I am really interested in the integrated systems like the Vibe and the MM Revel. I currently am paying out of pocket for the CGM and I believe that paying out of pocket for the integrated CGM will be less. Anyway, hoe can I get the VIbe?

I did it, I DID IT!!!! There was no category for Spain, so I chose France, and did get the BG numbers on our usual US scale. And it did take me some finagling and figuring out just how to do it, because it's not particularly self-evident. The first part is registering via the Diasend home, and the second part is installing both parts of the uploader program and the third part is logging in with whatever you used when you created the initial account.

If you have one of their approved meters (or more than one), you can also upload it, and if you have an Animas pump, you can upload that, too. Since I have a t:slim and an unapproved meter, I couldn't upload them, so in some categories of the data, I couldn't get any readings, but that's OK, since I COULD get what I was most interested in -- my CGM curves, carb consumption and standard deviations of BG (mine suck, bigtime). The only thing I would have liked to have been able to get and couldn't was total daily doses of insulin. But I can get an average from t:connect which just came out yesterday, so one way or the other, I'm set! :-)
