Dexcom on Ipad

I am using the Dexcom g4. I know according to Dexcom their software won't work on Mac products. Is there anyone here that's been able to make it work? I really want to download my info from my pump and dexcom before I have an endo visit and just go over it on the tablet. At this point, I'm printing everything out before I go in. What a waste of time and paper.

As far as I can tell, no. The Dexcom iPad app is, I believe, merely a tutorial on sensor usage, etc.

I currently download data from my Omnipod to a Win 8 laptop and then e-mail it to my endo as a PDF file attachment.

Clunky, but saves the printing, at least on my end. Seems like I should be able to cc myself on the e-mail and open the attachment on my iPad, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Isn't there some way to run Windows on an Apple? I thought I had heard about a program that emulates it. Sorry, I don't own one so I'm not much help!

Yes there is. I use VMWare Fusion to do so.

Thanks. I'll check into it

Thanks, Mike. I’m considering this and VMWare looks better than parallel. Still have to come up with a copy of Windoows for the virtual machine though; retails at around $300. I’m wondering if the Dexcom software can be convinced to run on Linux Ubuntu. Would also eliminate the need for Windows anti-virus, etc. unless that’s not an issue with VMWare.

Just to clarify - the original poster was asking about an iPad specifically. There is no way to run Windows on an iPad, seeing as the iPad itself is not running a full desktop operating system. Thus, no VMWare type solution. Also, there is no USB port on an iPad so I believe there'd be no way to upload the results directly to it. You could probably upload the results to a PC like you normally would, save them as PDFs and email them to yourself. Then open them up on your iPad. But quite a convoluted solution.

Dexcom will not work on any apple products as dexcom never came out with a version on apple products
On a Mac you can partition the hard drive to have windows on it (I hate windows after years of issues)…I don’t think you can partition an iPad tho

There is no way to do any of this on an iPad. There most likely never will be. It is running a mobile OS, it has no drivers for anything, no connectivity beyond the dock/lightning port and third party solutions to integrate USB devices have been lackluster at best.

If you are set on having a tablet work with diabetes software, a Windows 8 tablet is your best bet. They have USB ports and run either a stripped down version of Windows 8 or the full-on, pro version. That will most likely get you where you want to go, but I don’t think the iPad ever will, I’m sorry to say.

Thanks. I know Dexcom said it wouldn't work, but I thought they said an android tablet would work. so, I bought a Samsung tablet. Guess what, it won't work on that either. When I talked to Dexcom again, they said, oh no, it has to be a windows operating system and it has to be older then Windows 8. It's really frustrating. From what I hear, they don't even care that it won't work on anything that might be more convenient than a desktop.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

 sorry to hear about your troubles. What I would do is wait and see when they announce official support for Windows 8 and then buy a Windows 8 tablet. The Microsoft surface for example is nice and has USB ports as well as running the full Windows OS, so when they support Windows 8 you would be able to log your information on the tablet. Good luck!
