I just received my Dexcom and I am a Mac user. I understand that the Data Manager software is not compatible with Mac.
I'm a little frustrated because the same goes for my Omnipod. I cannot use the software on my computer and I don't want to pay for windows and/or partition my mac to run the software.
So, do any of you have any suggestions?
Is there a way to run the software virtually?.. any suggestions would be GREAT!
I have been successful downloading the Dexcom data with VMware Fusion running Windows on the Mac. The Omnipod doesn't work though ;-(. I ended up using an older cheap PC to grab all of my data. Then you can export to CSV and open with numbers or excel.
You can use diasend.com to download your Dexcom and omni pod. Set up your account under international settings. If you use US settings it want let you download the Dexcom because the FDA hasn’t approved it.
I, too, am a Mac user. There are a couple of options for us, but I have never tried to run these software programs on a Mac. Though you don't want to purchase Windows, I don't know of alternatives.
Look for Parallels Desktop (http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/). You can actually switch back and forth between your Mac and Windows operating system (you will need to buy a low-end Windows OS). I played around with Parallels Desktop when I used the Cozmo pump. It was really cool.
Windows 7 Home Edition is about $120 (needed regardless of your methodology). Boot Camp (requiring a partition) is included in the Mac Operating system, but requires a rebooting if you want to change back to Mac. Parallels Desktop, about $80.
You'll have to dual boot using boot camp. The dexcom will with in a virtual machine in parallels or vmware fusion, but the omnipod won't show up at all for some reason unless you boot directly into windows.
Unknown diabetic: did diadems actually work for you with the monopod? I got it to download the dexcom but not the omnipod when I tried about a month ago. Was a bit sad because the only thing I hate about then is the
separate data. It’s not easy to remember to log to two devices.
you all may wish to check out http://www.codeweavers.com/ They have a software that runs Windows apps native on a Mac with OS X Mountain Lion. Works well and they will work with you to tweek the system and get good results. The more of us who use it the better they get at making it work out of the box.
I've tried using VMware with Windows XP, and though Studio will run on my iMac, the software doesn't recognize the Dex4 receiver when connected to a USB port. Did you have any similar trouble? The Dexcom support people are not helpful at all, and even give incorrect information. One said it only could run on a Mac with BootCamp. Is there any way to set the Mac USB ports to see the receiver? Thanks
