Dear Members of the TuDiabetes family,
Back in April, I shared with you the news about our partnership with OneTouch around the Word In Your Hand project. They licensed this beautiful program that was born in TuDiabetes.com from us and, through the steps I am about to announce, they will help us expand this project and reach to many more people touched by diabetes around the world.
If you visit DiabetesHandprint.com, you will see the new site developed by OneTouch, inspired by Word In Your Hand. Through DiabetesHandprint.com, you can submit the word in your hand as well, but there’s something very special about it: for every word submitted, they will donate $5 up to a maximum of $250,000 for the Diabetes Education and Camping Association (DECA) to support children’s diabetes camps and to Taking Control of Your Diabetes (TCOYD) to support adult diabetes conferences.
While the Word In Your Hand will continue to have its home here in TuDiabetes.com and anybody who wants to submit their hand here will be welcome, because of the impact it will have on the diabetes community, I encourage you to go ahead and submit your word through the DiabetesHandprint.com web site, as you will be helping two great diabetes charities.
What can I say? The Diabetes Hands Foundation is very happy that many more people touched by diabetes will learn about this empowering awareness program and through it, they will learn about TuDiabetes.com and the other diabetes awareness programs that we run. So expect our family to get bigger in the course of the next few weeks – Welcome Committee, get ready! We are also very glad that this program that was born in our community is now going to help DECA and TCOYD with their mission, which strengthens us all as part of the diabetes community at large.
Over the course of the next few weeks you will see, hear and read news about this in local and national media, so I wanted you as the members of the TuDiabetes family to be aware of this collaboration effort before the rest of the world. Next week, I will be participating in a number of radio interviews to talk about it and the following week I will be doing the same thing on a few TV stations (and, if you are wondering: yes, I am nervous about it!)
I have only left to say: I am very proud to serve this incredible family and thankful for all the great and courageous people it has allowed me to meet online and offline.
P.S. In case you want to write anything about Diabetes Handprint, on this page you can find a detailed press release published by OneTouch.
