Do you have a favorite sports team?

I live in Washington so my favorite NFL team is the Seattle Seahawks. I work out every Sunday while watching the games.
I sent an email to their website asking them to mention type one diabetes and the need to support the research for the cure.
This disease could be cured if it got a fraction of the media attention that say breast cancer receives. My wife had breast cancer so I appreciate that media attention and would love to see T-1 diabetes get some too.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM? IF SO GO TO THEIR WEBSITE CLICK ON THE CONTACT TAB, SEND AN EMAIL REQUESTING THEY GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO CURE TYPE ONE DIATETES.
Breast cancer supporters used the pink wrist bands. Do you have an idea for a symbol that people could wear to bring attention to this disease. Something cheap, recognizable and easy to wear.
If we could get one team to participate all the others will follow suit.

Thank you for this, Jethro. I just sent an email to the New Orleans Saints. I think we all have a responsibility to advocate and educate to benefit the next generation.

The Blue circle is recognized world wide as the symbol for diabetes awareness

also check out our BigBlueTest program we do every year around November 14, which is World Diabetes day

many PWDs do something called "Blue Fridays" where they always wear blue on Friday

there are a few diabetics in the NFL, Jay Cutler

anyway, good for you, bringing a little d-awareness front and center!

Contact the media, the teams have little or no voice on the major networks...they do have some control over local advertizing, Radio and Television...I have a family member who works for a NFL team (advertizing department).

The sponsors who advertise during the games could be a better source....

First; My name is actually JEFF but that user name was already taken.
Second; Thanks for the replies, all very uplifting and informative.
I'm going to check out Marie's links and would love to get more feedback on a visual symbol, maybe a wristband with a bunch of blue circles each one the size of a nickle ????

thanks again....

Granted the visual was done using windows-paint and is not exactly artistic quality but hopefuly it gets the idea across.
White wristband with blue borders and blue circles.
Does anyone have any better ideas or feedback to make this idea better?
Otherwise I will contact diabetessymbol.org and submit the idea of having sports teams wear this to promote awareness and research for a cure. I probably should'be done this about six months ago but oh well the world didn't end so I guess I'll move forward...
