Hi Raven. I.m here in Bothell. As for the rain, everyone should look at the weather reports for Seattle this last week and compare with your city. LOL.
There is a NW Group here, but to be honest I have not seen much activity in the groups. Hopefully the new site will make the groups mpre relevent.
Welcome to TuD!
I used to work in Washington
DC!
But, I am from Baltimore, so GO Raven(s)!
Nice nice, I live in Royal City, a very tiny tiny town. The weather has been super nice here lately! Loving this sun that we’re finally getting!
I’ve always loved the unpredictable Washington weather for some reason nice to meet you! I’m loving this site so far, lots of interesting things to read
I lived in Edmonds/North Seattle for 10 years, now I'm in (much sunnier) Northern Arizona. I do miss it sometimes, especially the ferries, the food, and the amazing array of medical care! I grew to love being outdoors there, but just too much drizzle. But I still root for the 'Hawks!
I have lived here my entire life and have never heard of Royal City. I've been to Brooklyn, WA aand all types of little places, but Royal City?
Hello from Republic WA! I have been a diabetic in a tiny town for three years now and have yet to meet another T1
Yes, I'm in Seattle. :) I love the city. But it is strange that, in such a large city, I haven't met any other T1's except for one that my doctor connected me with.
I absolutely love the doctors in seattle! I had to go there for all of my appointments before I turned 18, and now I’m so upset that I don’t have those doctors they were the best.
Hello fellow Seattle-ite! I hear the Sports & Diabetes Group NW is good, but haven't checked out any of their gatherings yet:
Hi Shadow! Thanks for the link, I’ll check them out. Also if you want to chat over coffee sometime…
I'm in Seattle, eastside. We should all get together. I too know no other T1's in the area. I tried to partner with Seattle - JDRF to start a T1 Support Group but it fell thru. Endocrinology seems to be a very nomadic specialty here; endos keep leaving practices, going someplace else, no longer seeing 'diabetes' patients. Wondering where all you go for care/treatment? And yes, that NW Sports Group is awesome, they meet at REI - Redmond, all type 1's.
I simply love the Seattle scene, the The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, The Public Market, Seattle Center, The Snoqualmie Pass and Falls (okay those are not in Seattle but pretty dern close!), the Mariners, Sounders, Storm, and for sure the Seahawks! I find Seattle to be the very finest in venues and music. The history of places like The Cenral, The OffRamp, The Crocodile, the smaller Ballard taverns like The Tractor and The Sunset, and I then there is the Key Arena for big gigs, and also the Paramount and The Moore Theatres, and then the Mural are inviting some amazing artists to entertain. The music scene in Seattle is next to none! Maybe you can go here and I'll look for ya: http://www.showboxpresents.com/events/detail/257156
I too have tried a few times to find/start a T1 meetup group in Seattle. Maybe this thread is the chance I've been waiting for? If anyone else is serious about a doing a semiregular coffeeshop meetup in Seattle, message me your emails or something, I'll start an email thread and make it happen!
Oh, and I go to the UWMC diabetes care center.
