Do you have to adjust for location of site?

Hi all, quick question here… so after three years of pumping and ONLY using her stomach for infusion sites, my daughter finally agreed to try a new place and for whatever the reason when she got a new site yesterday she chose the back of her arm.

But in the middle of the night last night she had a low, and today another low. I for some reason thought that other parts of the body had slower absorption, does this not apply to the arms?

it could easily be due to decreased absorption on her stomach. After years of using my stomach, I decided to rotate in my back and I love the site, but I have to be careful that I do not over treat. Slowly as I have used all four sites, my stomach has equalized and now all four are about the same.

Thank you… that makes sense. I hope this is a start of rotating often!

Yes, we do!

We consider location and physical activity, my son plays baseball, and when he catches if he wears his pump on his leg, we need to lower his basal considerably, the same when he trains on the treadmill or bike.

The beauty of managing diabetes! :relaxed:

This is exactly what happened to me. I was using my stomach for several years, and moved to my upper thighs. As soon as I did this, I was having so many lows that all of my basal rates decreased.

Also, whenever I have a high sugar that seems to come out of nowhere and for no reason, I always have to ask myself if it could be the site. Often my explainable highs are because of poor absorption.
