I eventually got the snap pump but it took a bit of prodding of the company to get things going via their really nice DME who intervened and stepped in to make things happen… Its nice… but not quite how I expected the process to go…
I haven’t been able to even go 3 days lately – even if it feels comfortable and is working, if I let it go 3 full days, I end up with a very sore spot or a bleeder or both. Been making it a habit to change every 2.5 days MAX unless I see a problem and have to change earlier - something that happens fairly often.
Not sure what to do - if anything on that score…
What type of infusion set are you using… are you using an angled set or a 90o set…
Might want to try a different type of infusion set… its always going to be a little sore but the bleeder thing…
90o sets still can give me issues that the angled sets with MANUAL insertion dont… for some reason angled sets with inserter or built in inserter=issues…
I may have to try the angled sets – so far, I’ve only used the 90-degree sets. Not sure if I CAN use the other type, though - I’m glad I can manage these – and then only with a long pause, held breath, etc. Doesn’t (usually) hurt, but irrational fears are rather irrational.
Yes you can do this… Angled sets do take a little more…willpower and dexterity… In general if you try to put it in and it hurts, its not gonna work there… Basically its clean area, uncap and peel back part of the “airplane” and pull off the needle guard, pinch up a bit with the other hand, and poke it in… if it hurts badly at the start going in (as in breaking the skin) at least for me… its not gonna work, and will probably bleed and have issues later… If its uncomfortable it will go in, with a little resistance, stick it down and retract the needle… you should feel immediately less pain to none. Its worth having a CDE or Endo demonstrate if you haven’t done it before… I had a lot more lemons with 90o sets than the angled sets, and once its in it really is more comfortable… Yes it looks intimidating due to it being a bit longer than the 90 set… You should be able to get “samples” of the other Snap sets from your DME… usually they will give you 2 of a type…Also have you tried calling Snap support? They should be able to help you get samples or may send them directly… if your having set issues… Talk to them about your infusion set issues… they want you to “stick with it”… I havent tried Snap support for infusion set issues but I know another pump vendor sent me a full case of sets when I was having issues with the 90s. but at least send you a few to try…
@Jake may try… but even reading the process is scary! Hey - the Dexcom sensor needle - which is mostly hidden - and the 90-degree needle - which is not - are scary enough! Dunno that I really can deal with a longer manual needle… I guess it will eventually depend on how much trouble I do have.
Thanks
Somehow mine added a day even though I programmed it for 2days +12hrs.
As of right now it says Started 1.6 days ago, Alert in 2days 3hrs. maybe I set for 4days by mistake or it just screwed up the math :? My pump trainer said she used to work for Novartis. I asked a question on ½ unit dosing pens which she answered about the Levimir only had that option on the old pens that extended on insulin fill.
Oh they logged me out while I was typing a response post? how nice.
I’m going to ask my snap trainer to show me all the different sets. One pump rep said that it’s good to change the types up so that you dont always use the same type. I think it may help prevent abssorbtion issues Mine isn’t that noticeable actually feels less burdensome than I had imagined. but it stings a bit so maybe I’ll go for 2.5 but it is way more convenient than injecting so many times.
I had stinging with Humalog, but that got worse over time and eventually I had to change things more drastically (as you know, I believe). I switched to the 6mm sets (started on the 9mm ones) and generally have had good luck with those, but may have to try other options eventually.
I found that the pump alert resets with any prime - whether its for a new pump body/cartridge or a set change. Otherwise, I have been sticking with 2.5 days generally.
I’m using the 9mm ones now auto insert how much harder are the manual ones. I asked the tandem rep to bbring me a few meeting with trainer again for rwhen I will start using with Insulin inserts.
I haven’t tried the manual ones - not sure that I CAN use those… shudder
Do they offer auto insert angled sets?
gonna try the special formatting
----will this be strikethrough—
vvv Formatty shoot b low vvv
or old webbbold , {non curly with {b, /b } less-than greater-than symbols – - --Now trying {color.ON blue /color.Off} italic,“emphasized” < em > text 12345, 678910,11
12< /em > For most users bbeing abble to CTRL+B for bold CTRL+I for italics should be the way to see it as useful
yes, they do. Haven’t tried them though. Special formatting was weird. (Just
another thing not to like…)
I think theres a version of the Inset 30 for the Snap… Not sure… I always thought they were a bit fiddly to get to insert correctly… esp if the tabs stuck to the inserter… Id definitely try a “short” comfort (or the Snap equivalent … its a bit less intimidating but all angled sets have a daunting insertion needle…
