Hurry with the Novolog!!!!!

Anyone else get a mySnap upgrade yet? Have mine for just about a week now. Cosmetic upgrades aside, I love most of the changes they made - all of which clearly demonstrate Asante’s eagerness to listen to its users. As others have said, I’m looking forward to being able to use Novolog (maybe layer this year? ) and to the future ability to download days, but overall, it’s been a good experience. This is my first pump, so I may have a downy perspective than many, but, so fwr, do good.

Question: Does anyone successfully user the pump alert timer to keep track of set changes? It never quite does what I expect…

Got my trial Snap pump on December 17. I and three others that worked in my physicians office learned together. By December 22 I was ordering a mySnap. Lighter and quicker with an easy to read color changing screen. I like the graph and quick access to dosing. I just wish it had a vibrate mode. It is kind of embarrassing when the 2 hour alert goes off when talking to someone. What’s with Novolog? That’s what my last pump used. It is one of the most expensive insulins out there according to the new 2015 tier schedule.

"Question: Does anyone successfully user the pump alert timer to keep track of set changes? It never quite does what I expect…"
What do you mean by set changes? Do you mean basals? I have been pumping for over 12 years and am now on the Snap. Maybe I can help.

By “set changes” I mean infusion sets. I would like to use the alarm to remind me when three days have passed, but it rrests when I don’t expect it to.

Ah, figured it out. This is to track how long the pump body has been running. I let the alert go off on 3 days 6 hours. When you put a new cannula on your body and attach it to the tubing then Prime Cannula under the Prime Menu it will reset. I always change my pump on Sunday then carry an extra cannula for when that change is due. Did this help?

Yes and no. The status screen seems to keep track well enough how long the pump body has been in use; however, the only way to tell how long since the last infusion set insertion is based on when the last priming took place. If, for whatever reason, any other priming was done, that is what will be reported. I'd hoped to set the pump alert timer to 3 days, so it would alert me when I should change - however, it, too, seems to reset with any priming or pump body change.

I also use a Dexcom CGM, so between pump body/cartridge changes (every 3-5 days for me), infusion set changes (hopefully, every 3 days), and CGM sensor changes (every seven days). Add to those all the prescription orders that have to be made, and there are a lot of non-coinciding events to track.

Hi all - Moving to the Snap. Looking forward to it. Got my 90 day supply. Waiting on the prescription change for the insulin. And the body to be delivered. So hope to be on this in just a week. Can't wait. Look forward to learning from those here that are already working with it. And I'll be using the Dexcom G4 system with it as well. Hoping the integration with it will be coming really soon as well.

Not too many on here.... but I just started my pump 5 days ago. It's been the easiest thing to use ever. I loved the slick look and feel of the t:Slim. But the Snap has it beat. Light. Easy. Simple. Doesn't impede much at all on my life. I'm just waiting for the Dexcom connection....

Comment on Thas comment.
I use the Dex and the Snap. I love both of them. But I don't time the changes. I am lucky that I have reasonable insulin sensitivity so I look for signs before I change the infusion set. If my BG remains low all night, I am fine. When it starts to get elevated, time for a change. For me, this is somewhere between the suggested 3 days and a much longer 8-10 days. I am not sure what is happening, probably scarring, but this approach seems to work for me. So timing doesn't make sense for my case.

For me, it would be nice if I could order the infusion sets and the bodies separately. But alas, we can't.

I ordered a Snap upgrade awhile back. I was billed in Dec.. Still have yet to recieve upgrade, due to parts being backordered.. Problem is, the rep doesn't answer her calls or email, and iv followed up on it a few times now.. Tempted to tell them where they can put it.. All I want is a pump, an estimated ship date, a tracking number or an answer to my inquiries.. Im pretty much done with Asante and consider them a bit unorganized and unprofessional
