I found out in december, emotion do effect my level a lot. My brother and father died this same month and I had one low level next to the other…I couldn’t stop it…
So, the doctor said indeed it can effects your level…
I was wondering if any of you had this too?
greets Lena
Extreme emotional stress can make your sugars go haywire. I tend to go sky high if I have an argument with someone and super low if I am stressed about taking a test in grad school. Stress causes a release or cortisol into your blood stream. Your body needs cortisol but high levels takes a toll. Cortisol is an important hormone in the body, secreted by the adrenal glands and involved in the following functions and more:
- Proper glucose metabolism
- Regulation of blood pressure
- Insulin release for blood sugar maintanence (or insulin resistance in the case of someone with the D)
- Immune function
- Inflammatory response
So if you have too much due to stress, your body goes out of whack. Experts suggest trying to use relaxation techniques like exercise, deep breathing, yoga, etc to deal with the stress. Yoga works well for me as I do not like to exercise at all and yoga doesn’t feel like exercise to me. It just feels like good stretching and I put music on that I enjoy that adds to the relaxation.
Hang in there!
Mine goes always low…
But thanks for the tips…I sure will remember your words now when I get stressy or emotional…
I have it sometimes also at my job…
But that week, boy oh boy, I had almost everyday an fell down of my level…it is getting better now…
Extremely emotional situations often push my blood glucose very high.
Lena, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I can’t imagine how difficult this must have been for you.
Yes, I find that extreme emotions do effect my blood sugar. Usually when I cry really hard and am very emotional, my blood sugar will go high. Sometimes I also go low when I am stressed, but I think that this is because I am running around
Thank you, It was very hard, it still is…in one year losing my mother, father and brother is extremelly emotional…
The point is, in my case, I go low not high…
but as advice of my doctor I must now test many more time to prevent it…
Im very sorry to hear about your dad and brother.
When I am stressed out and emotional, my blood sugar always skyrockets real high
Im super DUPER Sorry For Your Loss =( Just Hang There And be strong!! and yeah well to me it does. But mine its all the way around if i get super super mad it happends all the time i get super high levels and since i get mad very easily it takes almost a week to go down.
