Dogs to the rescue - batteries not included

I’ve read numerous on these pages anecdotes about people who have dogs that detect and assist with low BG episodes. There is also a great resource here plus numerous articles, including the AKC magazine Family Dog at www.akc.org.

One of mine (a Siberian Husky) gives subtle hints, (including lots of licks when I start crashing, yet I’d love to improve his skill without having to go through lows to train him. Does anybody have any thoughts or recommendations for doing this?

I was just thinking about this the other day, interesting to see your post. You should contact the people at the first web site “Heaven sent Paws” you listed. They might give you tips on things you can do to enhance his reaction to your lows.

We also have a group for diabetes alert dogs. Perhaps you could find some suggestions there.
