Dr. Phil has Type 2 Diabetes

Have you actually read any of @jojeegirl’s posts on this site? I think if you had, your questions would be answered. I’ve read numerous discussions she has participated in and she has been careful to never to give direct recommendations nor give medical advice. I have found some of the information she’s provided quite interesting.

VI have read what I have found. They are accurate, rather basic nothing earth shattering in my opinion as a well controlled T2. A good starting point.

As to Dr Phil, he is a paid spokes person., no more.

I do apologize especially to Judith for my rant. But being a well controlled T2
(5.6) and off Meds I have been told many times by educators, dietitians that I am doing everything wrong. And I should follow the ADA guidelines. My current least favorite comment “I am harming T2s by talking about being off Meds, because it would incourage them not to take their meds”. Their does not seem to be a logic to that.

7 years of volunteering (real life not on line) time to shut my mouth, pack up and go home.

One last event I am working on the for th ADA step fundraiser in SF I am working with them to add a 5k run to the program (as other cites have)
I don’t agree with much of what the ADA stands for, but I don’t believe in getting T2s active

Thanks for my time here

A decade ago, trying to follow ADA guidelines for my first 6 months after dx made me suicidal. And then I found TuD and learned a lot about how to gain control—so far without meds, but who knows how long that will last.

So I definitely empathize about the ADA. I am fortunate to have found a doc that I like, but it took me awhile. I’m sorry you had to go through bad experiences, too. There is so much misinformation out there.

I was glad to know about this Phil person, simply because once in awhile, as a community, we can correct such misinformation …Blessings to you…

Your comment simply made my heart melt. I went it alone for 18 years before I found the support of the online community.
I am having some rough diabetes days this week and your comment made me both smile and weep a little at the sam time.

Thank you and hugs

Disappointed?? Maybe he wants to keep his private life private.

Aren’t you sweet, Cynthia. Thank you for your kindness. We have all had what I call our “Plodding Periods”—where the best one can do is put one foot in front of another, knowing that they don’t last forever. Belonging to a community like this, I believe, helps us along-----lifting us up and sharing our burdens before we hit our knees!

Onward!..Take care…Judith
